Safer Chemicals, Healthy Families Requests Meeting with Interested Nurses

Lindsay Dahl of Safer Chemicals, Healthy Families will be in Las Vegas the end of the month, and she would like to meet with nurses interested in working with them on issues of common interest. She is planning a meeting on March 30 at 10 a.m. and has agreed to provide a teleconference hook up for those who want to attend from other areas of the state.

If you are interested in attending, please email me at imcmlrc@aol.com.

NNA Now Ready for Mentor/Mentee Sign-Up

The NNA Mentoring Project site is now operational. If you are interested in becoming a mentor, please sign up at www.mentornet.net. The site will talk about STEM students and make frequent references to science, math, and technology. However, if you select the Nevada Nurses Association as your organization, you will be paired with appropriate mentors/mentees.

To become a mentor, follow the link to find a protege. Mentors need to be registered nurses in Nevada willing to share their experience, network, etc, and with at least 15 minutes per week to spend in providing email mentoring for a new grad.

Are you interested in finding a mentor? Mentees/protegees for the first phase should be new grads in the first 2 years of practice. Some advantages you can gain from having a mentor include:

  • Access to career wisdom and guidance
  • Job and personal opportunities
  • Increased confidence
  • Problem-solving skills
  • The knowledge that you are not alone

If this sounds interesting, sign up today by emailing sapna@mentornet.net.

Please let me know if you have comments, suggestions, or information you want included in the next News You Can Use.

Warmest regards,

Margaret
