| Greetings!
Welcome back to the July issue of our monthly newsletters from the Manhattan Beach Young Professionals. A
special note from your
NEW MBYP Chairs:
Wow it's July, a
month when
the June gloom has faded, our nation celebrates it's freedom, and the
new
MBYP chairs take the reins!! We are very excited to lead the premier
networking
group of the South Bay to a whole new level! Along with that we must
recognize, and thank Isela Blair, Todd Anderson, and Tricia Flaherty for
leading this group over the past 2 years, and making MBYP what it is
today.
Also not to be overlooked is the integral part the MBYP Board, and
Manhattan Beach Chamber, play in bonding together to make for these
great
events. Our hope and vision for MBYP over the next year is that the
community sees MBYP as a place to plug in, build business and personal
relationships, give back, and support our local community, and
businesses.
The best way to do this is to get active and participate in all of
what MBYP and the Chamber have to offer. We assure that you will
get back from it something comparable to what you invest in it! As
your new chairs, we are looking forward to building an even stronger
platform
that allows for the members of MBYP to build even stronger relationships
and continue to make new ones.
"Participate in the
MBYP experience, and Experience the Participation!"

Big Wig Luncheon

The June Manhattan Beach Young Professionals networking
event at The Belamar Hotel was another big success! MBYP was honored to have Skechers' Chief
Marketing Officer, Leonard Armato, as its Big Wig Luncheon keynote
speaker. Over 80 attendees were given a rare
opportunity to hear one of the world's most highly regarded sports lawyers
share his professional wisdom and advice for young professionals. Armato shared the evolution of his
career and recounted how he came to represent some of the most notable sports
figures in history; Ronnie Lott, Shaquille O'Neal and Ahmad Rahsad to name a few. A t the June lunch MBYP chairs,
Isela Blair and Todd Anderson, presented to
founder of Mychal's Learning Place,
Ed Lynch, a donation in the amount of $3500. Mychal's Learning Place
has been the 2009-2010 MBYP charity recipient and MBYP members not only raised
funds but also provided volunteer support for events. MBYP is now accepting applications
for its 2010-2011 charity recipient. If
interested, please contact the Chamber at 310-545-5313 or download an application here. Mychal's Learning Place Special Needs Prom

On June 4, MBYP volunteers gathered to
help the kids of Mychal's Learning Place get ready for the
Prom! The ladies in the group brought their make-up and hair
accessories
to use on the girls, and the guys helped out tying ties and playing
games
with the boys.

Thank You Letter from Ed Lynch
| |
Dear MBYP Members, I write this letter to express my gratitude for all that
MBYP has done for Mychal's Learning Place
over the past 18 months. When I first
met your organization, I was impressed by the enthusiasm of your participants
to come assist with our prom, bowl-a-thon, pumpkin carving and more. You came out to support our fundraising
events and showed what a networking group is capable of. I had no idea or expectation of where this relationship
would go. One of your members, Michael
Flaherty, became a board member of Mychals and is having a big impact on the
future of Mychals. Sema Sanigok has
taken on the project of designing Mychals new home in Hawthorne
and has brought in outside support to make this the best home for Mychals. The support of MBYP speaks to the true mission of a
networking group. It is the community and relationships that we establish in
life that make a difference. I look
forward to many years of collaborating with your group and one day we can host
one of your networking meetings. Thank you from all of us at Mychal's Learning
Place. Gratefully, Ed Lynch Executive Director |
