Lanna Theological Center

 Student of the week:
Wanchai
Greetings!

The students and faculty at Lanna Theological Center enjoy getting out of the classroom for some good fun and relaxation.    Every year, we join with other Christian ogranizations for a three-day Sports Event.

This year, each group had to prepare a cheerleading squad to perform during the lunch break.   What a riot!

LTC freshman,  Wanchai, volunteered to get all dolled up for this unique competition.

Wanchai

wanchaiWanchai is from the Karen tribe.  He is  a third generation Christian on his mother's side.   He first heard God's call to ministry when he was 15 years old.

Once certain of God's call, Wanchai has never waivered from that decision.  He first attended a Bible school in Central Thailand.  Then, he heard about our English for Ministry program and transfered to LTC in May 2009.

Medical Clinics
Chai at Pharmacy
In January 2010, Lanna Theolgocial Center partnered with Community of Blessing to conduct medical clinics in three different villages.

Wanchai became our expert translater for the Pharmacy.    His attention  to detail  and gentle way of explaining made him the perfect pharmacist.

Lanna and Comunity of Blessing will team up again in June for another series of clinics.  Wanchai has already volunteered!
Summer E-Team

Life Encounters is funding a Team of studens to spend the summer ministering among the Lua Tribal people in Nan province.  The Lua are a poor group located in small villages scattered along the mountains bordering Thailand and Laos.

Wanchai has been accepted onto the team and appointed team leader.  Please pray for Wanchai and his fellow team members as they minister among the Lua people this March and April.

Pray for God to bless their unity, testimony, and teaching.  Pray for God to keep them safe as they travel the mountain roads.  Pray for God to give them an extra measure of wisdom and discernment.

Thank you for your partnership with us. Your prayers and support make it possible to send young people like Wanchai to school and into ministry.

Wanchai is learning English.  He would enjoy being able to practice his English with native speakers.

When you first meet Wanchai, you get the impression he is a very serious and  committed young man.   And he is ...most of time... unless called upon to cheer for his favorite team.. .

Why English?

ChaiWanchai chose to study English because he wants to prepare himself with as many tools as possible.   There are many more resources in English  than in Thai.

Wanchai wants to be able to access these resources for ministry in Thailand.

His dream is to be an evangelist.   Even now, as a student, he is seeking out opportunities to work in evangelism.

Every weekend, Wanchai travels 2 hours by bus to a small church in the  town of Mae-ka-jan.  This church has been without a regular minster for years.   Wanchai teaches the kdis on Saturday and preaches on Sunday

(Above picture:   Carmen invited the English students over to make Christmas cut-out cookies.  It was the first time they had ever made cookies! )
