Preacher of the Month Darnell Tingle
Darnell is a Charter Member of the Academy of Preachers and a member of the Young Preachers Leadership Team. A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, and a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Darnell currently serves as Assistant Pastor at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Houston, TX. He is licensed to preach in the Baptist Church.
"My text for the 2011 National Festival of Young Preachers is Mattew 5:17. The sermon title is "Mirror Mirror On The Wall." The message I want everyone to a walk away with is this: the commandments are based on a simple, positive foundation of love. All of us would rather hear about what we can do rather than what we are forbidden to do. But an honest examination of the Ten Commandments reveals that God's message contains more what "to do" than "not to do" items. The Ten Commandments are a reflection of what we should look like on the inside not just the outside."
"My experience last year at the inaugural Festival was wonderful. I met individuals who I now call associates in ministry, people who I know down the road encourage me when times seem rough. But most importantly, my experience at the festival left me even more inspired to go out and preach with confidence, knowing that I am not the only young person out here who feels called to gospel ministry."

Greetings!
Welcome to the December 2010 iPreach Newsletter.
Registration for the 2011 National Festival of Young Preachers is now closed. Today, there are 129 Young Preachers planning to preach in Louisville this January. In addition, 40 institutions and organizations have signed up to exhibit. The list of mentors, conveners, evaluators, volunteers, plenary preachers and staff numbers almost 150.
The 2011 National Festival promises to be a rich and rewarding event, memorable in every way. We encourage all of these and everyone planning to attend (family, friends, donors, ministers, media) to register through the website and make reservations for the meals or the rooms you will need.
God bless you all.

What is a PREACHAPALOOZA? Who knows?
Who has been to a PREACHAPALOOZA? Nobody!
Who is invited to the PREACHAPALOOZA? Everyone!
On January 6, about 300 people including all 129 Young Preachers and a host of mentors, exhibitors, conveners, evaluators, volunteers, family, friends, and staff will convene for this first event of its kind. Entertainment and speakers will include the Jones Family Band singing bluegrass and gospel, Craig Dykstra and Chris Coble from the Lilly Endowment, and a special appearance from vocal dynamics coach Kate Bringardner.
Most importantly, representatives from the 50 Founding Partners of the Academy of Preachers will be there. This will include-but by no means be limited to-Morehouse College, Chalice Press, the Lord's Day Alliance, Peritus, Campbellsville University and the Fund for Theological Education.
PREACHAPALOOZA will honor these businesses, congregations, denominations, institutions, and organizations. This will be a time for us to thank those who first embraced the mission of the Academy and gave us their blessing.
Join us as we eat, sing, laugh, listen, watch, pray, and celebrate. Visit our website to learn more and make your reservation today.
PREACHAPALOOZA. Thursday, January 6, 2011. 5:30 in the evening. Grand Ballroom of the Seelbach Hilton Hotel. Louisville, Kentucky. Cost $30.

A Word from Dr. Moody
The second National Festival of Young Preachers promises to be an unforgettable experience. But it also promises to be an expensive event. We need your help to make it happen. Your gift now or during the Festival will make it possible for 129 Young Preachers to receive the encouragement and the opportunity they need to pursue a call to Gospel Preaching.
Our Young Preachers are coming from 26 states and they need help with transportation, meals, and lodging. Your tax deductible gift will make the difference.
In addition, we have many expenses: hotel housing for staff and volunteers; video recording of all sermons and events; programs and decorations; travel, housing, and honorarium for plenary preachers.
Would you like to underwrite the cost of complimentary lunches for preaching mentors who are coming a great distance at their own expense? $1,000.
Would you like to provide a travel scholarship to some Young Preacher coming from California, Oregon, or New York? $500.
Would you like to provide room and board for one young preacher? $300.
Would you like to provide 3 tickets to PREACHAPALOOZA? $90.
One donor has already pledged $5,000 to purchase copies of the new book of sermons from last year's Festival as a gift to everyone who attends PREACHAPALOOZA. A second donor has pledged another $5,000 toward the costs of PREACHAPALOOZA.
What can you give to make this National Festival of Young Preachers the success it needs to be?
- Dwight Moody, Founder & President

"The Academy of Preachers is a national, ecumenical initiative
launched through a generous grant from the Lilly Endowment of Indianapolis and enlarged through the gifts
of individuals and organizations. The Academy is energized by the conviction
that gospel preaching is a vocation of public and social significance, a
calling worthy of the very best and brightest of our young people."
