 Greetings!

Welcome to the May 2010 edition of the iPreach Newsletter. We're pleased to bring you the latest news from the Academy of Preachers.

As May draws to a close, the 2010 Summer Preaching Camp is just around the corner. After plans were finalized and details hammered out, this year's camp will be held June 6-11, 2010 at Camp Kavanaugh in Crestwood, Ky.

The camp will include several days of preaching, coaching and mentorship, with special presentations from Kate Bringardener, Vocals Dynamics Coach for Professionals. On Wednesday, participants will enjoy a "field trip" in the Lexington area.

This year's camp will be the Academy's second since it's founding in 2009. The Academy looks foward to sharing the news and events from the camp in the June iPreach Newsletter.

As always, visit the Academy online for the latest news, events and articles.

2011 National Festival of Young Preachers
Seelbach Hotel
The beautiful and historic Seelbach Hilton Hotel is the site of the second national Festival of Young Preachers. This elegant facility offers amenities not offered to young preachers and exhibitors at the inaugural festival this past January.

First, all preaching and most of the eating will take place in the hotel. So let it snow! Let it snow! Let is snow!

Second, the four preaching venues are essentially identical: large, hotel conference rooms, with plush carpets, high ceilings, and plenty of room.

Third, a large, central hall is designated for exhibitors, registration, and refreshment. This will create a wonderful gathering place, ideal for vendors and recruiters who wish to get the attention of our young preachers.

Fourth, the hotel is a half block from Fourth Str4th steet Live, a busy collection of popular eateries, and also a half block from the Cathedral of the Assumption. The Cathedral will host a reception on Thursday night, a worship service on Friday night, the luncheon on Saturday noon, and the final convocation right after Saturday lunch.

Everyone-young preachers, exhibitors, conveners, and mentors-should book accommodations directly with the hotel.

And this note: all preaching will not only be recorded but will be webcast live!!

2010 Fundraising Update
In May, the Academy of Preachers launched a campaign to raise 9225$50,000 to support several initiates: the Young Preachers Leadership Team, the Preaching Camps, and the Festival of Young Preachers. In the last month, to date, and through the support of our generous donors. To learn more about how you can make a tax-deductible contribution directly to the Academy or through your denomination, school, church or organization to support one or more of these young preachers, please visit the Academy online at www.AcademyofPreachers.net.
A Word from Dr. Moody
Dwight A. Moody, Executive Director
We knew it would happen eventually, but did not expect it during the very first Festival of Young Preachers.

Actually, it was not during the festival, but after, when a pastor search committee went to the Academy of Preachers YouTube site, watched some of the 92 festival videos, found one they liked, contacted the young preacher, and scheduled an interview.

This lead to a trial sermon this past Sunday in Elizabethtown, Kentucky.

We won't know until the first Sunday in June whether the entire congregation will vote to receive this young preacher, but what we already know is that the National Festival of Young Preachers is one place to look when your congregation needs a preacher.

Yes, you can watch the videos on YouTube; already more than 9,700 people have viewed these Festival sermons.  That's far more than the 600 who attended the event. But those who attended the event were also able to listen to several prospective young preachers.

In just a bit over seven months from now, 104 young preachers will take their place behind the pulpit or on the stage or along the altar and preach a 16-minute sermon on one or more of the Ten Commandments. If your church or organization is looking for a bright, talented young person to serve your faith community, the Festival is the place to be, the place to meet, the place the interview!

The second national Festival of Young Preachers will be held January 6-8, 2010 in the Seelbach Hilton Hotel and the Cathedral of the Assumption, both in downtown Louisville.

"The Academy of Preachers is a national, ecumenical initiative launched through a generous grant from the Lilly Endowment of Indianapolis and enlarged through the gifts of individuals and organizations. The Academy is energized by the conviction that gospel preaching is a vocation of public and social significance, a calling worthy of the very best and brightest of our young people."
