Is Your EAP Invisible? Then You're Not Seeing ROI. 

Employee Assistance Programs (EAP) are structured to help employers create a healthier, more productive workplace by providing employees with resources that allow them to more fully focus at work. And, they're a smart, affordable investment-when utilized.Invisible EAP

If your EAP is invisible to employees, human resources and executive leadership, then you're not seeing its potential return on investment (ROI). "High-touch" EAPs, visible within organizations, result in dollars saved through reduction of lawsuits, absenteeism, health care costs and more.

 

Here are a few questions every organization should ask their EAP:

  1. Does the EAP provide supervisory trainings to help managers deal with employee issues and understand when to refer employees to the EAP?
  2. Does the EAP conduct orientations with employees?
  3. Are employees provided with the EAP call number? Website address?
  4. Does the EAP send out fliers and emails promoting services to employees?
  5. Does HR get regular reports on the number of employees using the EAP and the types of issues they are asking for help with, while maintaining employee confidentiality?
  6. Does the EAP make on-site visits in an emergency to help mange crisis situations and conduct groups as needed?
  7. Is the EAP integrated with other benefits inside your organization, such as wellness programs, to increase participation?

Putting together a simple checklist with questions like these can help you evaluate whether you and your employees are getting the most from your EAP.
