Greetings!

Here is the third of many design ideas coming your way from The Beading Room.  We hope to get one a week to you-to give you inspiration and inform you about some of the wonderful products we stock.

This week's design features our versatile 7 Ring Hoop Earrings, Heart Shaped Rings and every girls' favorite-Swarovski Crystal.

Our good quality base metal 7 Ring Hoops are so much fun to design with because the possibilities are only limited by your imagination.  They come in Antique Copper, Antique Gold, Bright Gold, Gunmetal and Rhodium.  So if Antique Copper isn't your thing, use this idea to make a pair in your preferred color:)  And remember, it is ok to mix metal colors, infact it is fashionable now!

We have then used our Antique Copper Heart Rings Soldered 14mm to make the hoops that bit more unique and interesting.  They are great little components to use as links, chandeliers and in pendants.  They too come in a variety of colors for your design inspiration, have a look by clicking here. (This link takes you to pg. 4 of our new items.  There are more on pg. 5, so make sure to click to the next page too)

And what girl can resist a bit of sparkle?  We now offer two brands of 4mm bicones-Swarovski and Preciosa- to offer you a HUGE selection of colors and finishes.  Have a look at our Swarovski 4mm Bicones or our bulk packs of Preciosa 4mm Bicones at a fantastic price.

We have also done a bit of wire wrapping with Artistic Wire to add texture and flair-this is a highly underestimated technique that gives this design an artisan feel.

Have fun making these earrings!

Kindest regards,

Hollie and Brian Ferrall

PS: One of our customers wanted us to let you know what she is doing with her design ideas from The Beading Room.  She has created a separate file in her 'Inbox' to save each design to.  This saves her time, ink and paper for printing!!!  Good idea!!!

Method:

1) Take your heart rings and gently hammer them flat.  I have also used the edge of the hammer after they have been flattened to add a bit more texture and marking to the rings.

2) Take one piece of your wire and wrap several times around one side of a heart, leaving the remaining length straight.  Repeat with the other piece of wire on the other side.  Do this all again for your second heart.  Don't worry too much about making the wrapping perfect.  Wire wrapping is pretty forgiving and sometimes the more natural, the better:)

My Working Space

3) Take one heart and one hoop.  Place the heart in the center of the hoop and wrap one wire around one side of the hoop (I went around 8 times).  Be sure to keep the heart centered in the hoop.  Tuck the end of the wire under a couple of wraps and trim closely.  Repeat for the other side.  Your heart should be secured to the hoop.  Make sure it does not sit too high in the hoop as your earlobe needs some space in there.  Gently ease the wire down if needed.  Then add a couple of drops of beading glue to the ends of the wire on the heart and on the hoop.  Put aside and allow to dry.  Repeat for the other earring.

4) Now get your crystal beads ready.

a) Put all your peach beads onto headpins with wrapped loops. I did 3 wraps around so that they are really a feature in the earring.

b) Put 4 of your jet hematite beads onto headpins and make an open loop on each but   DO NOT TRIM THE WIRE as you will need to put them onto the hoops later and do a wrapped loop to secure them.

c) Put 10 of the jet hematite beads onto eyepins and again make an open loop on each but DO NOT TRIM THE WIRE as you will need to put them on the hoops and secure them with a wrapped loop later.

d) Attach one of the headpins with peach beads (prepared in Step a) on each of the eyepins you prepared in STEP c.

5) Now you are ready to make all the attachments to your earrings!  Take your headpins with a single jet hematite bead and attach them to the two outer rings on your hoops.  Finish with a wrapped loop on each. Next, attach your jet and peach 'dangles' you made in Step d to the remaining rings on your hoops with wrapped loops.  All finshed!!!!

TOP TIP
When doing wrapped loops with crystal or glass, be sure to trim your wire as close as possible to avoid having to 'pinch the ends in' too much with your pliers.  You will end up breaking the ends of your crystal with the pressure.  Also, leave plenty of  the headpin/eyepin free to do your wraps around.

Even Prettier On!

I love the Light Peach crystal with Antique Copper.  It really brings out the metal's tone nicely.  Other color combinations that would look nice are Turquoise and Chalk White, Crystal Copper and Indian Sapphire, Jet and Crystal Golden Shadow.....I could go on and on!
