Design Idea #2
Magnetic and Moody (Men's Bracelet)
Magnetic Hematite Beads in All Shapes and SizesAre you Moody? Try Mirage Beads:)Marvellous Metal BeadsLarge Holed Cube BeadsPewter Toggle
Greetings!

Here is the second of many design ideas coming your way from The Beading Room.  We hope to get one a week to you-to give you inspiration and inform you about some of the wonderful products we stock.

This week's design features our marvellous Magnetic Hematite and Mirage (Mood) Beads.

Our Hematite Beads are a man-made, 'reconstituted' version of hematite, because the naturally occurring hematite is quite fragile and brittle.  You can use magnetic beads to create wrap anklets, bracelets and necklaces with no need for a clasp.  Just thread your beads onto a long, continuous thread or wire then wrap around your body- the magnets will automatically align to hold the piece on.

The metal beads we have chosen are quite heavy, so we have put a clasp on this design.  But the Hematite Drums serve to hold the two strands in place together-replacing spacer bars that would normally hold them in line.  We do them in all sorts of colors and shapes-have a look by clicking here.

For a little splash of color and fun we have added some of our 6mm Mirage Bead rounds.  They are super quality with a large hole and metal core.  They look great on leather cord too!  You can have a look at the variety we sell be clicking here.

To complete the look we have added two types of metal beads with interesting shape to give the design an industrial, modern feel.

Have fun creating!

Kindest regards,

Hollie and Brian Ferrall

-28 inches of Flexrite Clear (stainless steel) Beading Wire, 49 Strand 0.018in Diameter
-12X Antique Silver Color Bead Striped Square 5mm (sold per bag of 12)
-12X Antique Silver Color Bead Bamboo Tube Ribbed 11X6mm (sold per bag of 12)
-16X Magnetic Hematite Drum 6mm (sold per 8" Strand-you'll have some left over!)
- 6X Mirage (Mood) Bead Rounds 6mm (sold per bag of 10-you'll have 4 left over)
- 1X Western 'D' Pewter Toggle (sold per bag of 2) *We used another toggle in our phot0-please feel free to substitute your own clasp you may have on hand!
-2X Silver Plated Crimps Smooth 2.5mm (sold per bag of 100)

Method:

1) Cut two lengths of beading wire, 14 inches each (I like plenty of working length, just in case a crimp doesn't fold the way I want to, etc.).  Put them together, so the ends line up.

2) Thread a crimp on both wires together, thread on one half of your clasp, then feed the wires back through the crimp.  Add  a tiny dab of glue inside the crimp and tighten in your usual way (make a flattened or folded crimp).

3) Thread a Hematite Drum onto both strands together.  Tuck the cut ends in too, and trim them accordingly.  Then thread on a Metal Cube and another Hematite Drum.

4) Next, start threading on each strand individually. Cube, Hematite Drum, Cube, Bamboo Tube, Mirage Round, Bamboo Tube, Hematite Drum, Cube, Hematite Drum, Bamboo Tube, Mirage Round, Bamboo Tube, Hematite Drum, Cube, Hematite Drum, Bamboo Tube, Mirage Round, Bamboo Tube, Hematite Drum, Cube.  Repeat for the other strand.

5) Put the strands together again and thread a Hematite Drum, Cube and another Hematite Drum onto both strands at the same time.

6) Finally, thread on a crimp bead and the other end of your toggle.  Feed the wires back through the crimp and first couple of beads.  Pull the ends until required, making sure not to tighten too much-you want a little slack to allow the bracelet some natural movement.  Add a dab of glue and close your crimp bead. *Optional- Add a crimp cover for a more professional finish.

7)  Trim the excess wire and it is complete!  Put it on and check your mood-hopefully the beads read happy and not stressed:)

**Notice the color change in the Mirage Beads in the two photos- while Brian is wearing it the beads are a brilliant blue- in the photo above they are brown changing to green!**
