Yesterday it was released that the Supreme Court upheld the Affordable Care Act. What does this mean for you as a member of the cooperative? Time. More good news about coffee has just been released. According to recent studies, drinking two 8-oz. cups of coffee per day correlated with an 11% reduction in heart risk. The Wall Street Journal. Pharmacists are taking a more active role in the health care of patients. Counseling patients face-to-face, contacting people who need to refill prescriptions and checking for drug interactions between different prescriptions are all part of their new involvement. Yahoo! News. A new drug for type 2 diabetes has been developed in Germany. The drug linagliptin, marketed as Tradjenta, is meant for patients who don't respond well to the most commonly prescribed drug for type 2 diabetes, metformin. (6/28) Full Story

Reuters. Drugmakers have been shifting their focus from drugs meant for mass markets to drugs meant to treat rarer diseases, and it's starting to pay off.
