Coaliton News

Please mark your calendars and help spread the word.

The U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency will soon sponsor a second annual National Take Back Day on Saturday,  April 30, 2011 in cooperation with local law enforcement agencies.

The first National Take Back Day, held last September, was overwhelmingly successful in getting unused and unwanted prescription medication out of medicine cabinets and homes across the country.  In fact, the DEA safely collected 121 tons of prescription medicines through last year's initiative.

Prescription and over-the-counter medicines are the most frequently abused drugs by adolescents, and parents and relatives often have no idea that these drugs are being taken from their homes, their medicine cabinets or their trash. We hope our members and stakeholders will spread the word about National Take Back Day on April 30, 2011.  For more information or to find a collection site, please visit this website.
