Description:   During this hour John Miall will speak on the topic of designing benefit plans to manage the cost and improve outcomes associated with chronic disease by aligning the incentives for all stakeholders.  John will also discuss the well-known Asheville Project which started the trend towards Value Based Benefit Design and provide key lessons learned and tips for employers looking to manage the cost of chronic conditions within their plan designs.

The speaker, John Miall worked for the city of Asheville, North Carolina for 30 years. During his tenure, he received a "Benny" Award in recognition of his innovative work in Employee Benefits and was named Risk Manager of the Year by the Public Risk Management Association. Additionally, John was one of the visionaries behind The Asheville Project, now known as HealthMap Rx. These goals are achieved through patient education, intensive oversight, and incentive alignment of all stakeholders.
