HELP FOR DEBTORS
We hope that none of our Flashers are having to deal with creditor problems, but in this economy, many people are having trouble paying off all of their debts. Even though this may not apply to anyone in your family, this is good information to have. The Statute of Limitations limits the time allowed for collecting various debts. The Statutes vary from state to state and also according to the type of debt. To take any action, it is best to consult with an attorney, but to better understand these limits and the rules, Click Here. Scroll down to view the chart for all 50 states.

FUN KIDS' CRAFT
Summer is here and chances are you moms have been asked, "What can I do?" It helps to have a few fun craft projects on hand, especially for those rainy afternoons. This wine cork man is made with wine corks and colored wire pushed into the cork. He is so cute and very easy to make. Some people call him a scarecrow and some call him a clown. Kids love to make him and then pose him anyway they like. Wrap wire (or colored pipe cleaners) around a pencil to coil. Use your old wine bottle corks or purchase corks and google eyes at a craft store. They'll have so much fun creating him, they might want to make a whole cork family! |

WHOLE GRAIN VS. MULTIGRAIN
Understanding the Difference
I think we have all become aware of the importance of grain in our diet, but it's also important to understand
the different kinds. To maximize your health benefits of a multigrain food, look at the food label and make sure that the grains all include the word "whole". (If you see the words "enriched wheat flour" near the top of the ingredient list, it means that the multigrain food is not composed entirely of whole grains and has limited health benefits compared to whole grain foods.) Whole grain is beneficial to the body because it can help prevent heart disease, reduce the risk of Type 2 Diabetes and reduce your chances of certain cancers, in particular colon cancer. Whole grain is also rich in omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin B and fiber. The Mayo Clinic recommends that adults eat at least 3 one-ounce servings of whole grains a day and the United States Department of Agriculture suggests that women should get up to 6 oz of whole grains per day. Along with breads, you can now find whole grain in pastas, cereals, tortillas, whole wheat chips and flours. Just remember to look for the word "whole"

TEST YOUR COLOR IQ

It is generally believed that around 1 out of 255 women and 1 out of 12 men may have some degree of color blindness. X-Rite, a company that specializes in the technology and science of color offers this interesting tool to test your color 'IQ' online. You will arrange a series of subtly varied color swatches ranging between two hues so that the gradient between the two colors is correct. Click Here.

A PRODUCT WE LIKE
Okabashi shoes are made by a family owned business that has focused on designing and manufacturing extremely comfortable shoes for more than 25 years in Buford, GA. Flash likes to support U.S. made products and these sandals certainly qualify. A tag on the shoes states, "The only time these shoes will travel overseas is when you take them there!" The folks at Okabashi believe that technology and design can be utilized to deliver a great product to the consumer at a great value, without shifting U.S. jobs overseas. These inexpensive sandals are available at CVS stores in styles for both men and women in a variety of colors. They are unusually supportive, make great beach shoes and the material used is 100% recyclable! |

SAVE MONEY AND EXTEND THE LIFE OF YOUR DRYER

Here is an easy tip that will help extend the heating unit on your clothes dryer. Surprise...It's your lint filter! You might think that just cleaning out the lint leaves you with a 'clean' filter. Not true. The lint filter is made of a mesh material and the dryer sheets you use causes a film over that mesh that can burn out your heating units. You can't 'see' this film, but it is there. It's what causes that waxy feeling coating on the sheets that make your clothes soft and static free. Here's how to test your filter for the waxy build-up. Remove any and all lint and then run water through the filter. Does it puddle in the lint trap? If so, that is because of the waxy build-up. You can easily remove that build-up by taking a brush and warm soapy water to it. (Try an old toothbrush) It has been said that by simply keeping your lint trap clean you can extend the life of your dryer at least twice as long and it will also help you cut the cost of your electric bill. Oh...the things you learn in FLASH! :)

Volunteer Jan Garrison takes a break next to the Columbian mammoth after she finished painting it for the Environmental Learning Center. The 4th graders at Vero Beach Elementary School submitted the winning name of the center's mammoth, which is now "Icee." The name is attributed to the mega fauna in which the Columbian Mammoth lived during the most recent ice age. The photo helps put into perspective the size of the extinct mammal that once traversed the Florida landscape.
