Happy December FLASHERS! Who can believe it is December 1st? (Perhaps the recent cool snap makes it a bit more believable.) However, as fast as time flies, it's comforting to know that some things remain the same. It is that sense of holiday tradition that makes me treasure this very special season! It is filled with tradition that includes: family, friends, food, music, get-togethers, performances, surprises and most importantly religion! All things that bring meaning to our lives. As families grow and mesh we are forced to figure out which family holiday traditions we want to continue and what new ones we want to begin. Being one of 5 girls, I remember always getting a new pair of matching pajamas on Christmas Eve. (I loved that and it made for some adorable pictures!) A new tradition that we have adopted is to create an ornament that depicts the one pinnacle event that took place during the year. It has included weddings, births, home sales and even Hurricane Andrew (pictured). We do enjoy pulling that special box out each year as we give new life to the memory of each event. We would love to share those family traditions you have kept from when you were a child and or what new ones you have created with your children. Whether it's for Christmas or Hanukkah, please take a moment and let us know. Click Here

HEALTH TIP
Control your weight over the holidays
EASY WAY TO CONTROL PORTIONS!
...Just act like a 4-year-old. Remember that phase when you'd throw a fit if one food touched another? What . . . you're still there? Good, now it'll pay off. Help yourself to every delicious dish, but make sure you can see the plate between each food item -- no touching. That way, you'll taste everything, but keep the portions small. And remember this tip from EatingWell.com: Divide your plate into 3 sections, - 1/2 should be vegetables, 1/4 whole grains (like brown rice or whole wheat pasta) and the remaining 1/4 lean protein (about 3 oz. poultry, fish or beef).
