                         WHERE DID THE SUMMER GO?

labor dayIt seems that the kids just got out of school and now they're already back in beginning another school year. Soon our 'snowbird friends' will return from their summer homes, the traffic will pick up and our community event calendar promises to be busier than ever! Take advantage of this last long weekend of the lazy days of summer and do something special with your friends and family. We've got a few ideas in this issue, - like the ice cream party in the post below.  Always the first Monday in September, Labor Day was recognized as a national holiday in 1894. It is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers, recognizing their contribution to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country. God bless!

 NOW THAT'S CLEVER.

ice cream in cupcake liners    EASY WAY TO SERVE ICE CREAM AT A PARTY

Scoop ice cream into baking cups before the party and put in the freezer. When you are ready for the ice cream or serving the cake bring out the pre-made scoops. This is so easy and takes the mess out of the scooping when you are in full party mode! You'll just love this idea!

patton manning          10 HIGHEST PAID PLAYERS IN THE NFL

It probably  comes as no surprise that the four highest salaries go to quarterbacks led by the Indiana Colts' Peyton Manning at $23million! Manning, who turned 35 last March, is under contract until he's 39. He is still recovering from surgery he had four months ago to repair a nerve in his neck, but has been back on the practice field on a limited basis, hoping to play in the Colts opener at Houston on Sept. 11th.  For the other nine players and their salaries, CLICK HERE

FASHION TIP

LADIES - KNOW YOUR DESIGNERS!

 designer

Earlier this year, the Wall Street Journal  published an interesting article on Fashion designers. WSJ stated that designers are influenced by other designers, past and present, whether they realize it or not-and whether they admit it or not! There are varying degrees of copying, homage paying, and "borrowing" of fashion designs. Ideas run from designer to designer, especially from one generation to the next. This 'Master Chart of Fashion Influence' shows who has been influenced by whom and the style that they are known for. CLICK  HERE

HANDY TOOL SUBSTITUTES

You can still get that small handyman job done even if you don't have the right tool  with these handy substitutes.

                         SANDPAPER
An emery board can smooth touch-up paint jobs better than the real thing. It can reach tricky areas, like the corner of a window.
       PAINT BRUSH
For chipped paint touch-ups,  Cosmetic sponges make great dabbers and you can toss them when you're finished.

        C-CLIP

You can hold some glued areas (like loose veneer on a table edge) together with large binder clips.

  MEASURING TAPE

For rough measurements, you can pick your own pocket. A dollar bill is a hair over 6 inches long, and a quarter is just shy of an inch in diameter
