meteor shower                 BEST DAYS TO SEE A METEOR SHOWER July 30, Aug. 11, Oct. 9, 20, Nov. 4-9, 16, 26 and Dec. 13

According to the Farmer's Almanac, if you happen to be awake between, midnight and sunrise on certain nights chances are you might see a meteor shower. A meteor shower is seen when the earth's orbit intersects the path of groups of particles. These particles are the remains of comets and orbit the sun on a regular schedule: thus it is known when the two orbits coincide. For instance, two times a year the earth passes through the particles left by Halley's comet. Here is a list of dates of principal comets. The date of maximum visibility may vary by a day or two in either direction.

HEALTH TIP
CAN COFFEE PREVENT A STROKE?

coffee break

Dr. Susanna Larsson, a  nutritionist with the Karolinska Institute of Stockholm Sweden did a study of 34,670 women. The results showed that drinking one or more cups of coffee daily was associated with a 22% to 25% reduction in stroke risk. Moderate coffee drinking has also been linked to a decreased risk of diabetes, colon cancer, as well as heart, liver and Parkinson's disease.  It seems that coffee beans contain certain antioxidants and other chemicals that reduce inflammation and improve insulin activity. Anyone want to meet for a coffee break?

SAVINGS TIP OF THE WEEK!

COMPARE CREDIT CARD REWARDS Everyday we get an offer for a new credit card with even more rewards. They offer flyer miles, cash back, gas  or merchandise. It can get very confusing. If you want to get the full story, click www.creditcards.com. The site will give you full descriptions on various reward cards that you can compare for yourself.

Warning: You may have heard that too many credit inquiries

can affect your credit rating  whether for cards, auto loans or whatever. Here's why.  Issuers do become concerned if there are more than ten  credit inquiries during  a six to nine month time frame. They interpret this as an indication that you are in too much need of credit, and thereby consider you high-risk.

 GOOD IDEAS FOR SUMMER TREATS!
