The Parking Professional Partners with Second Brazilian Parking Congress

Following the success of the first edition, the Second Brazilian Parking Congress will take place at Expo Parking, Nov. 21-23 at the Expo Centre Norte in São Paulo, Brazil. For two days, experts from Brazil and other parts of the world will gather to talk about trends, innovations, and challenges for the parking industry in Brazil, including the effects of the upcoming major sports events for the industry.

"We aspire to reach an even wider audience in 2012. The qualification of our industry is urgent and we are pleased to see that, based on the interest in the congress, the industry is aware of this," says Andrew Piccoli, president of Abrapark (Brazilian Parking Association). The organization, founded in 2005, is the organizer of the Congress.

In 2011 the event hosted a series of conferences organized by Abrapark and CET-SP--the Traffic Engineering Company of São Paulo, as well as presentations hosted by several solutions providers. This year, organizers expect even greater numbers of exhibitors and visitors. More information is available at www.expo-parking.com.

The Parking Professional: What Were They Thinking?
Last year's dramatic redesign of The Parking Professional drew a lot of attention from both its readers and the publications community, which recognized it with several prominent awards. One of those was a Gold award from Association Media and Publishing, whose members are publishers and editors of association magazines and other publications (a story about The Parking Professional's redesign ran in the January/February 2012 issue of their Signature magazine.

For their part, Association Media and Publishing asked our designers at BonoTom Studio how the redesign came to be. Art Director Abigail Noonan wrote, "At first we thought the subject matter might be a bit of a challenge. It's easy to dismiss parking as boring or irrelevant. But there was so much beauty in the provided pictures. And the articles were about things to do with our lives, with everyone's lives. The research that we did into parking inspired us and we wanted other people to be able to see this magazine the way we did. So we worked on it. . . for months."
The rest of her story is fascinating. Read it HERE.
