We Know How to Ride a Bike, but Do We Know How to Park Them?
Rolling Out the Welcome for Bikes: The Role of Parking in Bicycle-Friendly Places

If you want to be a destination for the next generation, you'd better plan for plenty of bikes. Sure, bicycling has always been cool for kids, but pedaling from place to place is catching on with all ages. Providing exercise, reduced traffic congestion, and social benefits, bicycling can help solve many community challenges. Simple steps such as secure and convenient bike parking can help transform workplaces, universities, and neighborhoods and towns into bicycle-friendly destinations. This webinar, presented by the League of American Bicyclists, will share information about the Bicycle Friendly America program, which has already been adopted as a roadmap to success by hundreds of cities, businesses, and colleges nationwide. Don't miss the chance to hear best practices for bike parking planning and implementation ideas that work from around the country.

The Parking Professional: It's Not My Fault

The Best Excuses and Stories Municipal Parking Professionals Have Heard from Illegal Parkers

June TPP 2012

Spend any time in parking enforcement and it's not long before you'll hear an excuse for a violation that'll make you shake your head (or burst out laughing). It's kind of like the dog eating the homework, only for grownups who are caught in the act of parking illegally. You might think it'd be easier to just pay the fine than come up with the stories, but people do it every day.

We asked IPI's municipal members for their favorite "not my fault" stories, and got some doozies. You won't believe what people will say and do to avoid a ticket.

IPI Members can read all the excuses and the rest of the June issue by accessing the online version of The Parking Professional.
