Letter from your Chair
Dear ,
Welcome to our latest
edition of YPN Connect!
Fall is upon us and after a blistering Summer, I know that seeing those leaves
fall is a welcome sight for many. Welcome as well is the amazing show of
support and activity we have seen from the members of the Howard County Young
Professionals Network. We have had an AMAZING year thus far including seeing
record numbers in attendance to our bi-monthly mixers, blowing away our Relay
for Life fund raising goal by more than $1000, and have completed two Adopt-a-Highway road cleanups to help keep Howard County looking beautiful. These
efforts simply could not have been achieved without the help of wonderful folks
like you and we are looking forward to the awesome events and activities we have
planned for the rest of 2010 so we can finish this year strong and make it the
most productive year for our organization to date!
Speaking of folks that have helped YPN, perhaps no name looms as large in this
category as that of Jody Lenes of Include Software. Jody is one of the founding
members of The Howard County Young Professionals Network and while he has put
in more than 5 years of service to date, he is still a Young Professional and
as active as ever! Jody was most recently honored with winning the 2010 Young
Professional of the Year Award at the Howard County Chamber's Signature event
which was held Friday October 1st. Jody is truly an asset to ANY organization
and we are happy to have his continued commitment and service.
Make sure to check out this edition in detail. We have some great events coming
up in the weeks and months to follow, and as you will see, YPN is still looking
for young professionals in the area who wish to get more involved and
connected. Check out our committee descriptions and email the appropriate
person if you want to take your YPN involvement to the next level.
Thanks again and we hope to see you at a YPN event soon!
Sincerely,
Mac Cassity

Get Involved with a YPN Committee
| |
If you're looking to get more involved with YPN, consider joining one of our committees.
Events
The Events Committee has the specific duty of coordinating and
facilitating YPN events ongoing (mixers) and variable, if voted and approved by
the Steering Team. Some specific duties and responsibilities include: securing
locations of events, bringing new ideas for events to the team, act as point
person for contacts at event venue, layout event timelines, schedule speakers/
guests, and more. The events committee meets monthly for planning sessions. If
you are interested in becoming involved with the YPN Events Committee, please
contact Events Chair Wayne Johnson at 410-290-0770 x 118 or wej@cardoniwaddell.com.
Sponsorship
The goal of the Sponsorship Committee is twofold: 1. Identify and
secure sponsorships for specific events, and 2. Identify and secure YPN annual
sponsors. Sponsorship committee members will also work with the membership and
marketing committees to design sponsorship packages, create a targeted list of
ongoing potential sponsors, and more. If you are interested in becoming
involved with the YPN Sponsorship Committee, please contact the Sponsorship
Chair, David Yungmann, at 410-207-7777 or davidyungmann@verizon.net.
Membership
The Membership committee plays a very active role in all other
committees and the overall success of YPN. Membership committee members work on
all fronts to encourage new memberships and help engage existing members as
well. In addition to recruiting, the membership committee is responsible for
making sure that all events are well staffed by members, develop and maintain
current lists of active members, and engage members to become more active with
YPN. To get involved with Membership, please contact the Membership Chair
Jody Lenes at 410-766-6666 x309 or jody@include.com.
Marketing
The Marketing Committee works closely with the 3 main YPN committees to
assist them in disseminating the message and views of YPN to the public, and
specifically to help develop marketing campaigns to effectively advertise
events. Some of the committee responsibilities include: design bi-monthly YPN
newsletter, maintain and update YPN website, maintain and update social media
campaigns like Facebook and Twitter, create and distribute fliers for events,
and develop other marketing pieces like brochures and business cards. To get
involved with the YPN Marketing Committee, please contact Diana Fooksman,
Marketing Chair, at 410-715-3044 or Diana@columbiafestival.com.
