The BellyGram
February 2010
Dear dancers, musicians & enthusiasts,

The first month of 2010 just flew by! It was a fun month for dance for me - I took both my pro and student troupes to perform at the Chandler Multicultural Festival, had some fun with the Boz-man, and took a trip to New Mexico to study some Turkish style and perform.

So how are your New Year dance goals coming along?  Two great  opportunities are coming to up your dance game - try a new style at the Khaleegy Kombos workshop or work on those zill skills at the Thrills with Zills workshop.

Be sure to check out a new addition to the BellyGram - Meet the Students! This month it's a Gilbert Level II student, Christy!

Shimmy till you drop!

The Daily Bellydance Quickies are offically a HIT!!
Thank you to everyone that has subscribed to the Daily Bellydance Quickes and shared them with dance friends!  The list has just exploded with interest and I'm having tons of fun writing them! We have subscribers all across the US and many in Europe and Asia as well - WOW!

The Bellydance Quickies are short daily emails with a tidbit about music, info on styles, exercises to improve technique, drills for zills or any fun thing that tickles my bellydance fancy!

Khaleegy Kombos Workshop
Sun., February 21st    2-4pm

book Khaleegy, or Raks al Nasha'al, is a women's social dance from the Arabian Gulf. This fun folkloric style features playful movements that show off the dancer's hair and special over-dress.

We'll explore some of the basics of this style and then learn combinations that you can use in a cuing format to dance together spontaneously.

This workshop is suitable for all levels of dancers - a few spots are still open!

What are YOUR   Dance Goals?
 Let's work on it...
Whether you are a beginner, intermediate or aspiring professional there's no better way to zero in on your dance goals than a private lesson!  Pick your topic and I'll design a lesson just for you, including music, drills and exercises for you to take home.

Need a patient teacher to help you take the devil out of your zills? Want to explore something you did a little of in class? Interested in folkloric styles like Saidi (cane)?
 YES, we can do that!

 Christy
Christy started bellydance in Aug 2008 in the Gilbert Level I class. Since then she's moved up to Level II and is currently part of the 2010 Baraem Jamila student troupe lineup!
Christy is a Marketing & Tradeshow coordinator. She also sings in Canto Vivo Choral. Her household includes a huge bullmastiff named Walter and a cat, Zoe.

Favorite thing about class: the camaraderie and adventure of learning
Was really excited when she learned: travelling combos with zills
Next challenge to conquer!: level changes with shimmies
