Letter Supporting State & Tribal Wildlife Grants Surpasses 600 organizations

TWW Color Logo This past summer we asked YOU as a member of the Teaming With Wildlife coalition to help us send a strong message to the leadership of the US Senate Interior Appropriations subcommittee that funding for the State and Tribal Wildlife Grant program is critical to conserving at-risk species.  The Teaming With Wildlife steering committee set a goal of 300 organizations for the letter and through your incredible response we doubled that number.  The letter was hand delivered to the offices of Senator Reed (RI) and Senator Murkowski (AK) in early September.  The National Wildlife Federation also emailed the letter to every Congressional office.  Last week we were grateful to see in a draft of the Senate Interior Appropriations Bill that the State & Tribal Wildlife Grants Program is funded at the same level as last year, rather than a 50% cut proposed by the House of Representatives.  We still have more work to do before a final budget is approved for the next fiscal year, but I assure you your voices have been heard.  Thank you for your support and take time this fall to enjoy our nation's rich diversity of fish and wildlife and know that you are part of the team working to secure their future.
