| Providing You Tools To Make More Money! |
January 2010 |

| Greetings!
It has been a real exciting month. I have heard reports from all over the country that sales are up or at the least are leveling off from the decline. I would love to hear how you are doing. Send me your feedback.
Stony Brook Sew and Vac launched a new service postcard (see Tip of the Month below) that has been kicking butt. Repairs are up over 30% because of the changes made in mailing and PURLS. The only problem is that our main sewing technician had a heart attack and had four stints put in. I'm telling you, some people just don't know when to have a heart attack! (Just kidding!) We weathered the storm and he should be back to work tomorrow.
We had a really good meeting in Orlando but the promised Go Daddy Girls and Bob Parsons were not there. They had last minute scheduling conflict. I think I was more disappointed than Elizabeth but we got some great ideas that I am going to be trying. One is on ways to get FREE publicity. I like FREE!
I want to provide you with valuable information that you can use to create more profit in your business with the E-mail Newsletter but I need your help to make sure I am on track. The space pen story: More than meets the eye
It's an oft-told tale of government overspending: In the early days of the space program, the U.S. government spent vast sums of money to develop a pen that would function in zero gravity. The Russian cosmonauts simply used a pencil.
Great story, but it's not exactly true. According to the NASA Web site, astronauts did indeed use pencils during the early U.S. space missions. When NASA tried to buy some mechanical pencils in 1965 for the Gemini program, they backed down because of an outcry over costs-$4,382.50 for 34 pencils, or $128.50 per pencil. So the agency relied on less expensive writing instruments.
In the meantime, a businessman named Paul C. Fisher developed the Fisher Space Pen, with a pressurized ink cartridge that would function in all kinds of environments. Fisher received no government funding. NASA initially declined to buy his pens because of the earlier controversy, but after some testing, Apollo astronauts were given the pens, at a cost of $6 apiece.
The original story may be good, but the true story is better.

Tip of the Month
Are you up on the latest technology available?
Do you feel like your kids know more than you do about technology? What is available that you can use in your business to make you more money? Things are changing so quickly now and you need to change in order to survive.
I have to start by saying that the old service postcard worked so well I used to joke that it was like printing money. Sending out an annual service reminder in the easiest thing that you can do to grow your business.
Even though my existing card was working very well, I am always looking for new ways to grow my business and to improve on what is working. What is the next best thing to come along? And, how do I know if it is working? The answer is easy, TRACK EVERYTHING! Ads, promotions, EVERYTHING!
My latest thing I am testing is variable post card printing on a full color 6" X 11" card and PURLS. We all have to agree that when your customers think you are talking directly to them they will be more responsive. Variable printing and PURL'S do just that!
Variable printing allows you to personalize the postcard to your customers by adding their name or even a picture of their vacuum or sewing machine. It is amazing how it has increased our response at very little increase in the cost. If your customer thinks you are talking to them, they are more likely to read what you send them.
I back up the postcard with PURLS. It stands for Personal URL's. It allows you to automatically create a totally personalized website for your customer. We added three options for special offers that were only available to them if they came to the website and scheduled an appointment to get their vacuum or sewing machine serviced. I have changed the offers this month that I think will help sell more. I will tell you how that has worked out in next month's newsletter. The nice thing is that I can change the website any time!
Hidden BONUS: The hidden bonus about the PURL'S is that you force them to give you their E-Mail address in order to get the bonus offer and to schedule when they drop off their machine for service. Then you can market to them via E-mail which we all know is less expensive and it gives you another way to keep in contact with your customers.
The more you know, the better off you can be in your business. The technology available now is amazing. These are the type of things I will be sharing at the Ultimate Profit Explosion Boot Camp in September. Make sure you sign up.
The printer we use to do the variable printing and the PURLS is The Print Concierge. If you are interested, contact Lee or Scott. Here is a link to their website and information. Click here They have a free book called Direct Marketing Strategies on the website that is worth the read and price, it's FREE! |

Don't make yourself sick when getting in shape
Exercise is an important element of good health, but you've got to approach it with good judgment. Follow this basic advice for getting in shape safely:
· Start off slowly. If you haven't exercised in a while, don't jump into a strenuous routine. Consult with your doctor to find out what's safe. Start each workout with a warmup to ease your body into the session.
· Get the right equipment. Running in the wrong shoes or biking without a helmet can be dangerous. Don't take chances with old or used equipment. If you're not sure what you need, ask a trainer or someone with experience.
· Wear suitable clothing. Loose, comfortable clothing is essential. Wear fabrics that absorb sweat, so your body doesn't overheat. If you're exercising outdoors in cold weather, wear a warm hat and gloves; in hot weather, wear a cap to stay cool.
· Watch the weather. Don't go outside to work out in extreme temperatures. Wear sunscreen, winter or summer. In cold weather, dress in layers. During the summer months, exercise in the morning or late in the day to avoid excessive heat.
· Drink plenty of water. Keeping hydrated is important before, during, and after exercise. Take a drink every 20 minutes, even if you don't feel thirsty.
· Pay attention to surroundings. When you're outdoors, don't "zone out." Watch out for traffic, other people, rough surfaces, and other dangers. Even in the gym, keep your eyes open and your mind engaged to prevent accidents with equipment or other exercisers.
· Listen to the warning signs. Don't try to "work through" pain. Slow down if you get short of breath. If you get dizzy or feel nauseated, or feel pain in your chest, neck, shoulders, or arms, stop exercising immediately. If the symptoms don't go away, call your doctor. |

Why People Fail A Series of No B.S. Articles from Dan Kennedy How To Get Rich In 'Un-Rich Times'
In the Renegade Millionaire System, I dispense this advice: #1: BE the Wizard, #2: BEWARE the Wizard. Wizards are very powerful, so it is better to be one than to be influenced by one.
Everybody welcomes the convincing Mystic. People so desperately wish to Believe. That there is a long lost, ancient or a revolutionary new Something: cure, elixir, formula for easy riches or happy relationships or better sex or children that mind or growing 12 foot high tomato plants; a gizmo that turns corn into fuel or tree bark into gold doubloons; an Answer Man, Seer, Keeper of Secrets. And in dark times, this desire intensifies. In dark times even kings subjugate themselves to the Mystics - which you know if you've studied history. People really don't want rational explanations for how you do what you do, they prefer Believing that you possess Mystical Powers and Magical Secrets that you will use for their benefit. To underestimate the power of secrets and secret powers is to ignore how humanity has been manipulated, controlled and ruled since its beginnings.
In these times, you can rise to greater heights of influence and power than at any other time, by turning up the wattage on your mysticism. In the dark, you glow. Doesn't matter if you dispense investment advice or lawn care advice, are a dog whisperer or a presidential candidate, or a tax attorney or a mattress manufacturer - now, more than ever, is the time to speak of secret techniques and magic ingredients and unique abilities. To offer absolute certainty in an uncertain world. To declare unique and profound importance.
I'm speaking now about how you present yourself to the world.
If you sell a particular kind of mattress, you must present it as THE - emphasis on key word: THE - first, best, only "magic," based on top secret technology invented for NASA and Olympic athletes - that relieves all back pain, delivers 10,000 more REMs per night, lets cellular structure rejuvenate thus slowing aging, helps you lose weight while you sleep; is THE secret to eternal youth and vitality. It must be THE GREATEST discovery in medical science of this century. And you, as its spokesperson, must be the Grand Mystic of Sleep Science. You need an arsenal of Amazing Facts at your disposal. You need practiced language and Profound Statements. You must convincingly promise THE Cure. For whatever ails them, economically, emotionally, physically. To advance your education, I strongly suggest getting and reading the book CHARLATAN. It reads like a novel but is non-fiction. Not that you should be a charlatan; I presume you deliver legitimate value in whatever you sell or do. But that you should use the techniques of the master-charlatans of the ages. Nothing less will do.
When a group becomes lost and frightened in a dark cave, the man with the only flashlight automatically becomes their leader. Key word: only. It's time to present yourself as the person with THE ONLY flashlight.
The WHY PEOPLE FAIL articles are provided by Dan S. Kennedy, serial entrepreneur, from-scratch multi-millionaire, speaker, consultant, coach, author of 13 books including the No B.S. series (www.NoBSBooks.com), and editor of The No B.S. Marketing Letter.
