Winkler+Dünnebier machines not only have high productivity but they also have a long lifetime. After more than 20 years in operation, most machines are still producing and are an inherent part of production planning. To assure these older machines continue to produce, we recommend our 'Machine Audit Program', which is part of our large W+D partner program.
Our service technicians in close cooperation with the customer, visit the customer's plant and identifies worn parts on their W+D machines. The service technician examines and evaluates all wear and damage to the machine(s) on the basis of a check list. At the end of the examination, the customer receives a report on the condition of the machine(s) as well as a recommendation for the action needed to safeguard availability. The service technician also demonstrates options for retrofitting and optimizing the machines.
The following is an example of the 'Machine Audit' which has been performed several times on the W+D 102 and W+D 527 machines.
The first step is to examine the machine while running production to establish an informal benchmark. The technician will then discuss with the customer the machine availability, qualitative characteristics, and criteria of performance such as speed. After the discussion, the technician will then examine the machine according to a prepared checklist. Photographs of certain components may be taken for documentation purposes. With the first analysis of the checklist prepared by the technician, we will evaluate the necessary repairs and explain why parts need to be replaced. In addition, possibilities and feasibilities to bring the machine to a 'new' or 'rebuild' standard will also be pointed out. This step may take as long as two days.
Depending on the findings of the audit and the availability of the spare parts, our technician could install wear parts and spare parts directly or on the following day. Additional time will be spent making whatever adjustments to the machine, that are deemed necessary. After finishing the audit, the checklist will be taken back to W+D where it will be analyzed over again and returned to the customer with any recommendations for further actions, such as recommended spare parts to be replaced, etc. The final decisions as to what, if anything, the customer wishes to do will be up to the customer, and we will respond accordingly.
