Pen and Ink from the Executive Director
Wow!  Getting my feet wet the month of June as the new Executive Director has proven to be more like a full immersion. I love it!

Members have been very welcoming and it's exciting to begin work at one of the Guild's busiest times of year. We currently have a full load of workshops, classes, exhibits, plus this month's upcoming Art & Soul evening and the Art Tent Auction.  What fun to be involved in so many activities.

I look forward to meeting members I do not know and welcome your input for all aspects of the Guild and Art Center activities. So far, many members have been forthcoming with ideas and suggestions and I look forward to hearing from all of you.

One of the initial areas I plan to concentrate on during the coming year is the expansion of our outreach program to all areas of Falmouth, the surrounding communities, and Cape Cod in general. I hope we can become more involved with younger artists and promote programs for children both in the schools and at the Center.  Artists of all ages, and those who appreciate art, are the keys to expanding the Guild's influence and ensuring our continued success.

We have been in the new Art Center building for just over a year and our growing presence in the community is the culmination of the work of many members over many years. I thank all of you and encourage you to continue your support of the Guild, whether financially or through your contributions of time and effort. Whatever you can do to contribute to our success is important and appreciated, for it takes the combined efforts of all members to keep us strong.

I hope to see you at Art and Soul, the Tent Auction, and at the Art Center as volunteers, exhibitors, and students. Talk to your friends, bring them to the Center, and together we will all build a strong future for the Falmouth Artists Guild.
CLASSES AND WORKSHOPS
Check our website and/or the new catalog for summer and early fall offerings.  Sign up early to avoid disappointment.
VOLUNTEERS
We have entered the busiest time of year and are in need of volunteers to serve as greeters as well as to help with Cape Art & Soul, the Tent Auction and opening receptions on July 16, July 25, and August 22.  Please contact Mary Lou Gitlitz, fgitz@comcast.net or Suzy Bergmann director@falmouthart.org if you are interested in helping in any capacity.  We can match up your interest with a job.
CAPE ART & SOUL
Mark your calendar and make your reservation for an evening of dinner, dancing, and live and silent auctions.  This year's art auctions promise to be the best yet.  Please join us at the Artists Guild's most important fund raiser at 6:30 pm on Thursday, July 15th at the Coonamessett Inn.  The preview show for all the art to be auctioned will run from July 1-14 in the main gallery.  Bids will be accepted in advance.
FIBER ART & POTTERY EXHIBIT
We are pleased to be able to sneak in an extra exhibition this summer that will run from July 15th to the 21st.  It will feature local fiber artists and potters.  Please join us at the opening reception on Friday, July 16th from 5-7 pm.
ART AUCTION UNDER THE TENT
The annual Tent Auction will be held on Saturday, July 31st from 10 am to noon. Selected works will be on display in the lobby from July 14th until the 31st.  You won't want to miss this opportunity.
