Volunteers Needed for November

ReBuild Needs YOU!

If you have visited ReBuild lately, you know we are bulging with new material from houses that are being deconstructing.  And, more are on the way!!  We need volunteers to help us arrange, price, and display  this material, so we can sell it as quickly as possible.  Do you have a few hours in November that you can help us?  We also will be having our annual year-end clearance in December for which we can use your help.  Volunteering on a weekday or a few hours on the weekends enables you to accumulate the 20 hours annually needed to qualify for our Volunteer Discount.  This discount allows each eligible volunteer to automatically take 20% off any item that is unsold after 7 days on top of any current sale price.  If this sounds like something you could use to purchase items for your renovation project, please consider volunteering for ReBuild.  Even if you're available only a couple hours a month, or for a specific event, your willingness to help will be much appreciated  Also, remember all volunteer work need not necessarily occur at the warehouse.  We have many other needs that need filling. If you are interested in learning more, contact Paul at 703/280-1719.

Also, if you can't volunteer but would like to make a donation to help us, you can do so by using PayPal or mailing your check payable to ReBuild to 8929 Colesbury Pl., Fairfax, VA 22031.

Going Solar:  Confessions of a Reformed Power Hog!

Join us and hear how one Arlington family successfully made the transition to solar and have dropped their monthly electric costs in their all-electric home by 75%!!  Julie Bruns will present a PowerPoint presentation recounting her family's journey from being "clueless" (her words!) energy users to low carbon footprint electricity users to actually having some months in 2010 when their electricity bill has been zero!!  If you are considering ways to reduce your energy bills with a combination energy efficiency/solar energy solution, you will not want to miss her exciting presentation!!  She will show us that estimates for reducing your electrical and heating expenses by as much as 50%-75% are quite feasible.  Her presentation will inspire you to take a serious look at solar to keep more money in your pocket and out of Dominion Power's.  See how easy it is!  Fee: no charge.  Location: The ReBuild Warehouse, 6625 Iron Place, Springfield, VA 22151.

pellet Wood Burning and Pellet Stoves

Just in time for winter!!  Have you been   thinking about purchasing a clean wood burning or pellet stove to keep a portion of your home warm this winter?  If so, find out about your options from John Ackerly of the Alliance for Green Heat.  The Alliance is a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization that works with environmental and forestry organizations, air quality experts, the wood and pellet stove industry, and others to promote high-efficiency wood combustion as a low-carbon, sustainable, local and affordable heating solution.  John will discuss low carbon heating fuel technologies, tax credits and other incentives available for stoves, and procedures for safe installation.  Fee: no charge.  Location: The ReBuild Warehouse, 6625 Iron Place, Springfield, VA 22151.

REBUILD ACHIEVED ITS FUNDRAISING GOAL !!  THANK YOU!!

Thank YouAs we approach the season of "thanks and giving", all of us at ReBuild would like to thank those of you who helped put us over the top in September.  As you know, we met our September fundraising goal!  We want to thank all of you for your support without which this would not have been possible!  Donations, big and small, not only help us remain financially viable but demonstrate to our foundation funders that we have the backing of the community.  Thank you for your ongoing support!!  You also ensured that September and October would be two of our best sales months yet.  We hope to continue enjoying your support and hope to see many of you at the warehouse during the Holiday Season.  Keep an eye out for our Holiday Party!!

"Coffee with Delegate Kaye Kory to Discuss Environmental

Legislation in the Virginia General Assembly"

Are you interested in finding out what our General Assembly is doing to address issues like Climate Change, Peak Oil, the Chesapeake Bay, mass transit, sustainable development, mountaintop removal, offshore wind energy, air and water pollution, and other environmental issues?  Constituents or supporters of Delegate Kaye Kory are invited to the home of Diana Artemis in Falls Church to discuss pending environmental legislation in the 2011 Virginia General Assembly convening in January.  Legislative committees are meeting now to consider various legislative initiatives.  This will be a chance to informally discuss policy ideas at both the state and local level.  For directions, please RSVP to Diana at: artemdi@yahoo.com.

Thank you for your continuous support of ReBuild and its environmental goals.
