Hello Everyone,
Some of our customers have had a chance to meet ReBuild's new Materials Coordinator, Damonte "Monte" Robinson, but due to all the snow, many of you have not.  Drop by and meet him if you haven't had the chance, let him know the kinds of materials you are looking for or would like to donate, and he will help you find it or arrange for pick-up of your donated items.  Some high quality kitchen and bath items donated by building contracts are so nice that "holds" are being placed on them as soon as we receive them.  We will be shortly receiving some new exceptional products from our partner, DeConstruction Services, LLC's, job sites in DC's Cleveland Park and in Talbot County, MD.

Like most retailers, ReBuild was "hammered" by the snow storms in late January and the first half of February, unable to open 8 out of the first 11 days in February.  If there were materials you were intending to buy during this period, or you were planning to just stop by to check us out, please know that "our doors are reopened" and we can make deliveries and pick-ups again on a normal basis.  To make the most cost-effective use of our crew and truck, we ask that you try to schedule either your deliveries or pick-ups on Tuesdays and Thursdays if at all possible.

Hopefully, we have seen the last of the heavy snows and we can all get back to functioning normally again!!  We look forward to seeing you!!

ReBuild Upcoming Events
Rebuild's mission is about community environmental sustainability
That's why we want, not only to be your source for quality reusable building materials, but a source for broader sustainability living, both inside and outside your home.  For instance, we want to help folks interested in shrinking their ecological footprint to easily learn ways for doing so that don't "cost an arm and a leg".  We're interested in getting speakers and having workshops on issues ranging from how to do your own home repairs and how to benefit from government incentives to build or renovate "green" to how to raise more of your own food, clean your house with non-toxic natural products and where and why it's important to buy locally-grown food. Other potential envirnonmentally-related workshops or talks might include: How to refinish your kitchen cabinets?  How to lay kitchen and bathroom tile?  Or how to reglaze a worn or chipped porcelain bathtub or sink? Or all about growing backyard plants for bees, birds and butterflies? And even starting neighborhood gardening?

Please Send Us Your ideas:

What types of other environmentally-related workshops or activities would you like to see at the warehouse?    We would love to hear your ideas!  Please send us an email
Customer Creations

The longer ReBuild is open, the more the staff has the opportunity to see the various
creative and unique things people are able to do with material they purchase from
our warehouse.  We have often commented that we cannot anticipate
all the things peoples' imaginations can envision.
Eino Box

We LOVE before and after photos from our customers' projects.

If you have completed a project using materials purchased at the warehouse and would like to share images with us, please send us an email with digital photos and a brief description of your project!  We will then display these images in our Community Corner, on our website and on our facebook page.

We invite you to visit the Community Corner next to our front check-out counter and see what others have done for inspiration and ideas.

Volunteer
VolunteerHave you considered volunteering a few hours a week with ReBuild?  Our volunteers are increasing weekly.  They include high school students earning community service hours, retirees looking to get out of the house a couple of days a week and stay active, and adults looking for ways to help the environment and to "give back" to their community.  They are a vital component of a nonprofit organization like ReBuild, and we could not exist without their help.

ReBuild is always
seeking volunteers with all types of experience, as each skill is valuable to our work in the warehouse and within the community.  Currently, in addition to our normal warehouse assistant work, we are looking for individuals and small businesses with home repair skills to put on a Saturday workshop, persons with in-store sign-making skillsproduct display and prsentation skills, youth groups looking for community service projects, and even persons just wanting to get some exercise delivering ReBuild flyers in nearby residential neighborhoods.

Come meet new friends and become a part of this exciting venture!

Did we mention that volunteers also earn store credit for each hour worked?

ReBuild Partners

ReBuild is greatful for the constant support we receive from our Partners.  Many small businesses and nonprofit organizations in the Northern Virginia and DC Metro area donate their time, advertising venues, and even materials reclaimed from their building and renovation projects.  Their contribution to ReBuild's success is critical to our mission of revitalizing lives and saving resources as we build a more sustainable community together.

 Compact Fluorescent Lights (CFL)
GreenLivingIdeas

Save Energy, Save Money, Reduce Your Carbon Footprint

Environmental Benefits
  •  One CFL uses up to 75% less enegy than an ordinary light bulb and lasts 7-10 times longer.
  • If everyone in the U.S. used energy-efficient lighting, we could retire 90 average size power plants.
  • Replacing a single incandescent bulb with a CFL will keep a half ton of carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere over the life of the bulb.
  • Reductions in energy use also equal reductions in the release of harmful air pollutants such as mercury, sulfur oxide, and nitrogen oxide.
 Proper CFL Disposal

  • Mercury is an essential component in energy-efficient light bulb
  • Amount of mercury in CFL glass tubing is small, about 4 mg
  • Best disposal is to place the CFL in a sealed plastic bag and transport to a Household Hazard Waste disposal siteh
Thank you for your continuous support of ReBuild and its environmental goals.

Sincerely,
