Dear ,
WALLACE TRAVEL GROUP GONE WILD(E)!
2010 is the fifth year of the "Dublin: One City, One Book project", designed to encourage everyone in the city to read the same book during the month of April each year. This year's choice is The Picture of Dorian Gray by Dubliner Oscar Wilde.
To honor this great project we have dedicated the April issue
of our newsletter to great incentive ideas and gala dinner
venues... all related to Oscar Wilde!! |
Oscar Wilde excelled at Trinity College in Dublin from 1871 to 1874, eventually winning a scholarship to Magdalene College in Oxford which he entered in 1875. More than 200 years later we invite YOU to step into Wilde's shoes...
YOUR GALA NIGHT IN TRINTIY COLLEGE

Trinity College was founded by Queen Elizabeth I in 1592 as a university and was for many years the only university in Dublin. We suggest pre-dinner drinks in the very impressive Long Room of the Old Library, then stroll across the historic cobbled courtyard to The Dining Hall. Max capacity: 200, easy operation including stage and entertainment. Walking distance from all city center hotels

THE OSCAR WILDE TREASURE HUNT
This is a new and fun alternative to the "classic" Dublin City Treasure Hunt.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, I am Oscar Wilde. I would like to welcome you all to Dublin, my city. It is a place full of character and characters, many of whom appear in my plays. As you wander through its streets, you will come across these people and hear their native wit. (...) Hopefully, all of them will have something to say about me because "if there's one thing worse than being talked about, it's not being talked about". Being Dubliners, not everything they say about me will be true. Only you can decide, though the ordinary citizens on the street may be able to help if you ask them."
Your group will be split in smaller teams and have to fulfill tasks and solve clues throughout the city. They will meet four character actors in town to help them:
Brendan Behan: Irish Coffee Making in an Old World Dublin Pub like the Palace Bar in Fleet St.
Molly Malone: Singing with Molly on the Streets of Dublin's Fair City!
James Joyce: Reciting sentences from Ulysses
Leprechaun: Irish Dancing session in a Pub like O' Neill's
This is an interactive half day activity and can be booked through Wallace Travel Group. Contact Doris: doris@wtg.ie.ie |
