Stereotypes" A Free One-Day Conference on Cuba. SAT, April 17, 9 am - 4:30 pm, 4J Auditorium, 200 N.

This locally-organized gathering
features many presentations and discussions,
often led by local activists. A
day to learn more about Cuba from many voices
and break the stereotypes of fear and enmity.

We will celebrate a vision of peace and hope
rooted in justice, moving beyond terror and
hatred
Women in Oklahoma will encircle the Oklahoma State
Capitol with the Ribbon of Tangible Hope, segments expressing hope and peace
created by people from around the world.
They have asked us to be in solidarity with them in
celebrating
this vision of peace and hope, each in our own
areas.
So please join us as we stretch our Ribbon of Tangible Hope across
the grounds.
Speakers will include Lillye Parker, Advising Coordinator: Office of Multicultural
Academic Success, U of O and Cristel Cesandari Herrera, LCC student.
Singers include Jorge Navarro and the Peace Choir
Cosmos will sing and lead us in a dance of
Universal Peace.

What is a Hate Crime? And What You Can Do! Public Forum to Inform Community Resiliency Against
Hate Wednesday, April 21, 6:00pm to 9:00pm University of
Oregon Downtown Baker Center, 975 High St. The City of Eugene's Human Rights Commission and Police
Commission are collaborating to present a public forum, Community Conversations:
What is a Hate Crime? and What you can Do! The
forum is on Wednesday, April 21 from 6:00pm to 9:00pm at the University of
Oregon Downtown Baker Center at 975 High Street. This event is free and open to the public. Doors
open at 5:30. · The forum will open with a distinguished panel to build
awareness and understanding of hate crimes and the impacts of hate and bias in
communities. Diane Sykes, who heads the Oregon Department of Justice Civil
Rights Program, will be joined by David Fidanque of American Civil Liberties
Union, Chicora Martin of the University of Oregon LGBTQ Educational Support
Services, and Dr. Randy Blazak of the Coalition Against Hate Crimes. Following the panel, break-out groups will be facilitated by
Human Rights and Police Commissioners, and will include local and regional
leaders from the field. These sessions will encourage discussion about
preventing and responding to hate activity. Themes of the break-out groups
include: Action in Schools; Public Safety and Hate Crimes Law; Neighborhoods
and Community Action; and a proposal for an Anti-Hate Resolution and other
possible government leadership actions.
Following the event, information and resources from the
forum will be posted to the Police Commission and Human Rights Commission web

The Civil Liberties Defense Center in
conjunction with Amigos & the Eugene Free School Program is proud to
announce FREE "Know Your Rights" trainings for the public presented in both
English and Spanish.
Come learn about your parental rights
& the legal issues associated with juveniles. In addition, you will get a
preview of the Juvenile training so that you can comfortably bring your
children next month .
