Afghanistan Peace Rally
"Stop the Killing: War Will Not Bring Peace in Afghanistan."
 
War and all the suffering it causes continue in every weather.  Bring your umbrella, wear your poncho,turn out for the Afghanistan rally!
 
Lane County residents are taking action Saturday to stop the Afghanistan war. There will be an Afghanistan peace rally at the old Federal Bldg., 7th and Pearl. The theme of the rally is  "Stop the Killing: War Will Not Bring Peace in Afghanistan."
 
Speakers/Musicians in this order:
  • Chris & Nate Hanks, Afghanistan Peace Song.
  • Eugene Mayor Kitty Piercy, the costs of the Afghan war.
  • Anita Weiss, UO Professor, the current situation in Pakistan and how it affects the situation in Afghanistan.
  • Jim Schmidt, Veterans for Peace, combat veteran's perspective on war.
  • Tom Rawson, Movement sing-along.
  • Rev. Dan Bryant, Immorality of war.
  • Samba Ja, mobile drum ensemble will close the event.
We'll be collecting names on a petition calling for an end to U.S military involvement in Afghanistan that will be given to Senators Wyden and Merkley and Congressman DeFazio.
