Set Your Intentions & Achieve Success
Recently I found myself slipping into some not-so-great habits around food. I know, I'm supposed to have this thing licked, right? Well, the truth is, I'm human and occasionally fall off the wagon. The good news is that I always know exactly how to get myself right back on track.
One of the most powerful techniques I know how to use when it comes to making positive change whether it has to do with health, money, relationships or you name it - this exercise really works!
You see, what I've learned is that we think who we are and what we do. Okay...so what does that mean? It means that the thoughts we think, shape us in more ways than one. When you continually think, "I'm not good enough" or "I'll never lose weight" - guess what happens? You never become good enough and you never lose the weight. It's as simple as that.
So what can you do instead? Change those nasty, downer thoughts with more appealing, loving thoughts. The quickest way I know how to do just that is to create a set of intentions around the thing you are trying to improve upon. Let's say for instance that you want to eat better, like I wanted to do. You write down specifically what you intend to do when it comes to eating better.
But, you don't want to stop there. You want to keep the momentum of positive intentions flowing daily. This allows you to propel yourself toward your end goal with much greater force.
Here are the steps to take for setting your new intentions:
- Write them down in the present tense such as I am, I have, etc. first thing in the morning.
- Say them aloud (after you've written them down) several times and with your full attention.
- Say them again before you go to sleep at night.
- Repeat this cycle daily and watch the magic happen!
Now as an example, I thought you might like to take a peak inside my intentions. I've been writing and saying them every day for about a week now and guess what? Yep! You're right. They are working!
Not only that but my mood has been uplifted and everything else in my life just seems easier and better. This is NO accident either. When you see improvement in one area of your life and know that you created that for yourself, the feeling of deep satisfaction spills over to other areas of your life, which is very cool in my opinion :)
Check out my intentions below and if any of them resonate with you, by all means use them for yourself.
My Intentions:
I GIVE my body food that is nourishing and energizing.
I GIVE my digestive tract a rest by drinking smoothies or green juice at least once a week.
I forgive myself for not being perfect.
I eat every meal sitting down.
I eat slowly and breathe every time I put something in my mouth.
I LOVE my body now - imperfections and all.
I use the tools I have to tame cravings when they arise.

I TREAT myself with non-food nourishing activities every day.
I create a supportive, loving relationship with food and my body.
