There is more to the fall than just discovering the views with the
backdrop of vivid, changing colors. (Although - it definitely doesn't hurt!)
When fall makes its way into the area, you should too!

September Feature: Fall is the Perfect Backdrop
Go!
Labor Day weekend is a perfect time to celebrate. The
Riverfront Jazz Festival, held on the banks of the Wisconsin River, is the
largest outdoor jazz festival in Central Wisconsin.
The event, featuring great music and fine dining has special Supporter Passes
available. The passes include admittance to a reserved
tent area with delicious snacks, beverages, desserts and exclusive access to
featured artists.
Friday
and Saturday, September 18 & 19, retreat to the 'Old Country' feeling with Dozynki Harvest Fest. The
event, which marks the celebration of Polish Thanksgiving in the heart of
Wisconsin, features a Wisconsin Friday night fish fry and a polish dinner
complete with a polka on Saturday night. In addition to many activities for
Dozynki, the 40th Annual Art in the Park will be held in conjuction,
in Pfiffner Pioneer Park.
Numerous arts and crafts vendors, children's art activities and entertainment
are available for both.
What's more perfect than kite flying on a breezy fall day?
Sunday, September 27, the Heart of Wisconsin Kite Festival, will be held. Build
a kite of your own, or watch others soar. Either way - enjoy the view!
See!
Plan to visit the Museum of Natural History, located on the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point
campus. Exhibits range from Rocks and Minerals collections to dioramas
highlighting wildlife and ecosystems, and Native American cultures. If you
want to see natural habitats and get an up close view of the fall colors
changing, bike the Sunset Lake area and the
surrounding moraines. The country roads around Sunset Lake County Park are lightly traveled and offer a wide variety of terrain. Circle back to your
starting point and be sure to dip your toes in the lake. The clear, glacial lake
is a great place for a picnic before or after your ride. Just a few miles from Sunset Lake,
in Amherst, you
can stop to quench your thirst after your ride. Central Waters Brewery, recently
announced they will be introducing a new Wisconsin-based brew, named "Sconnie".
The beer will use Wisconsin products; organic barley from Montello, barley from Ashland,
and hops produced in Wausau.
"Sconnie" is a wet hopped beer that will be released annually, in limited
quantities, during the height of the Wisconsin
hop harvest. Stop by the brewery and visit it's Tap Room, on Friday and
Saturday evenings to fill up a growler to take home.
Do!
September is a perfect time to fit in
a little fishing on the Wisconsin River. Lake DuBay,
located just north of Stevens Point
offers a distinct fishing service, Pat Pierce Professional Wisconsin Fishing Guide. To experience a new perspective on the water and the serenity and peace
of Olde time quiet fishing, Pat takes guests to explore the quiet waters of Wisconsin where boats
with motors most often pass by. His driftboat is able to provide fishing
services unknown in Central Wisconsin in the
traditions of an Olde Time Fishing Guide quietly plying the waters while
enjoying the opportunities to fish.
Stay!
