July Feature: Connected to the Water
GO!
July is the perfect time for outdoor events and festivals. These
will offer a good time and a great value. Take in a weekend long celebration
during the 25th Annual Riverfront Rendezvous, July 3-5. Complete with the Carp
Classic Fishing Contest, Lighted Boat Parade, Point Idol!, children's
activities, live music and fireworks. Then, get your motor running to attend
the Midwest's Largest Car Show the Iola Old Car Show & Swap Meet, July 9-12. Need some more festivals? Try the
51st Annual Krazy Days July 16 & 17, Portage County Fair July 16-19, Plover
Portage Rendezvous & Threads of History July 18-19, 20th Annual
Rosholt Area Thresheree & Antique Tractor Pull July 18-19. Click here for more information.
Love music? Thursdays are a perfect time
for a picnic, with a side of free live music, check out Eat to the Beat in Downtown
Stevens Point from 11:45 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Or, make your way to Pfiffner Pioneer
Park on Wednesday nights
for free live concerts, from 7:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. The Stevens Point City Band plays on a different theme each week.
SEE!
Stevens Point was once known
as the City of Wonderful Water,
and you can see how the locals have been altering to make it even better. The
Stevens Point Brewery, the fifth-oldest longest continually operating brewery
in the nation, has been brewing here for over 150 years. Stop by for a tour,
offered Monday through Saturday, and see the process up-close and after the
tour (complete with samples of their beer and specialty sodas), be sure to pick
your favorite. Then, explore more of the reasons why we love the water. Go to Iverson Park and rent a canoe or kayak from Nature Treks (a local outfitter, also renting bikes) and drop in to the Little
Plover River. Dive Point Scuba (another local outfitter) specializes in kayaks and will be offering a 'Quick Start Your Kayak' and 'Introduction to Kayaking' classes for beginners on July 18th. Ready to dive in? Visit one of many public swimming areas in the
county to escape the July heat. For a beautiful sandy beach, try Sunset Lake County Park,
a beautiful peaceful no-wake lake in the northeast corner of the county. Swimming
beaches are available throughout the county at Lake Emily County Park, Bukolt Park, Iverson Park, Pacawa Park,
and more.

stay by booking one of the many specials available now. Book a romantic weekend at the Dreams of Yesteryear Bed & Breakfast, complete with

DO!
If your looking for some more local flavor, make your way to
the Stevens Point Farmers Market. It has been held in the same location for
over 150 years. Plan to visit on Saturday's to take in the extra events like
Chef on the Square and Music at the Market. Just a little way from downtown,
plan a special trip to Belt's, but be warned. Belt's, a local favorite, is home
to the large cone. Don't
think it sounds too intimidating? Just wait until you order it!
