Dear friend,

The Glow programs are in full swing this year with nearly 200 high school seniors participating in our financial education program.  We can almost hear the sighs of relief from our students who probably spent the past Thanksgiving break finishing up their college applications for the UC and CSU priority deadlines and early applications for many private universities.  How we wish we could tell our students that the difficult part is now over . . .

The tough economic environment and tight credit market today mean our students are facing even bigger worries about the cost of a college education, and it shows in the classrooms.  There is a new found eagerness among our students to be financially smart - to find a way to pay for college, understand what it means to take out a student loan, and even more importantly, to be in control of their financial future.

Glow remains dedicated, more than ever, to helping our students gain critical financial skills and achieve their dream of a college education - because finance, even at a time of economic downturn, shouldn't be a barrier to getting an education.

Yours truly,

Joohee Shin Rand
Executive Director

Glow now serving students in East Bay!

Glow LogoGlow is excited to be serving students in East Bay this year!  The first East Bay Glow Program started with the BUILD Oakland site with students from Lionel Wilson and Oakland Tech High Schools.  We are also starting a new partnership with the National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) with NFTE Senior alumni students at San Leandro High School.  50 students from East Bay have participated in Glow's Financial Education Program so far.

About the Glow Foundation

The Glow Foundation was founded in 2006 as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization (EIN# 56-2590044) to address the financial barriers that high potential, low income students face in attending and graduating from college. Our vision is that all qualified, highly motivated students, regardless of their income level, should be able to afford and graduate from college and reach their greatest potential.  Our mission is to provide financial education, college planning advice, and "unmet need" scholarships to high potential, college-ready students from under- resourced communities.
