BEHIND  THE  SCENES   -  VERY  LATE  WITH  THIS  STORY ...

This story is very late in being published, but not because the 1930s vintage Bulova theatre office clock does not keep good time.  It keeps perfect time, thanks to the efforts of Rick Partain and his son, Travis (Gold-N-Treasures Jewelry).

Travis Partain pictured with his dad Rick,  making sure time doesn't stand still

During the construction of the new theatre offices in 2010, Charles Hall decided to return the "original" office clock to the theatre.  During the restoration of the theatre during the 90s, someone contacted Charles and ask if he had any interest in the clock.  And of course the answer was yes, because this clock had been in his mom and dad's office at the theatre for as long as he could remember.  So as part of the construction of the new offices, the clock was returned to the theatre.

The clock would run, but it would also occasionally stick and the wiring was suspect, so Charles decided to not take any chances and had the clock checked.  Rick and Travis took on the project, researched some movements, and donated their time and materials to the restoration of the clock.  The face is the same and they took extra care to get the hands attached to the new movement.  For any past employees, we hope you enjoy seeing the old clock once again!  Travis is a third generation jeweler and he and his dad have recently moved the business downtown, at 213 E. Grand.  His grandfather started the business in 1964.

While we are reliving history, another overdue "thank you" needs to go out to Roger Hall, owner of Visual Solutions, at 211 N. 2nd.   Roger donated a significant amount of time and expensive materials to bring to life a 1927 photo of the original Patterson Candy Store.  The candy store occupied the space that now houses the new offices.  The old photo became a life-sized mural on the back wall of the ticket offices.  In addition, Bill Bastien, volunteered his time to make a functional cabinet that became the "bar" of the candy store soda fountain.  Jeannie Hall added a final touch by making very real looking candy and malts to bring the counter top to life.
