Hurricane Ike - Still in Recovery Mode
Montgomery County United Way received a $3.1 million grant from Houston Gulf Coast Area Council to repair homes and provide for unmet needs such as furniture, refrigerators, clothing and in some cases, dentures.
 roof repair
A homeowner in The Woodlands is in the process of receiving a new roof.  After battling with her insurance company and losing, she had no hope for home repair.

Montgomery County United Way's Construction Manager Dan Huffaker worked with J.D. Forns of Academic Signature Construction and Darrell Everett of Brink Mann Roofing to repair the home owner's cornice and roof.

MCUW also worked with Pete Graefing of G Bar G Enterrises to repair Montgomery County Food Bank's roof that was damaged during Ike.  Montgomery County Food Bank distributed 4.5 million pounds of food last year to area food pantries in our county.

Give.
Only with your help can we meet our 2009-2010 $3.7 million Fundraising Goal.

Jim Fredricks, Campaign Chair and Editor of The Courier newspaper, said "Even after being hit by the effects of a national recession, our community has shown its willingness to reach out and help its neighbors."

Your gift of $100, $1000.00 or more can help us reach our goal so we can continue to fund over 60 programs that improve the lives of your family, friends and neighbors.

Visit www.mcuw.org and click on Giving or call 281-292-4155, ext. 245 for more information.

Thanks for you help! Our funded partners in our community also thank you.  The need is greater this year, it is vital that our contributions are also greater.
