Milton Frazier Stevenson III
It is indeed with great sadness that we share with you news that Milton Frazier Stevenson III, 81, passed away peacefully Thursday, December 17th 2009. Born in Trenton, NJ, he called Syracuse and Central New York his home since 1949 when he came to attend Syracuse University's College of Engineering on the GI Bill following a stint with US Army Corps of Engineers. Since 1967, Milt has called Jordan his home and Jordan United Methodist Church his church. Milt founded Anoplate Corporation in1960 and under his leadership grew it to employ over 200 persons gaining an international reputation as leader in the metal finishing industry.
Milt was an Emeritus Trustee of Syracuse University and arguably the most avid Syracuse University sports fans traveling overseas on numerous occasions with his signature orange socks, Syracuse suspenders and SU lapel pin. Milt was past president of the National Association of Metal Finishers, on the board of the American Electroplaters Society and served on several committees with the National Tooling and Machining Association.
In 1990 Milt was honored with the Silvio C. Taomina Memorial Award, the NAMF's highest award. He indeed had a heart of gold, tons of patience, and saw the least glimmer of goodness in the most dismal of hopes be it in people or on the field of competition. He set an example for all of us to follow. Milt is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Ann, and 8 children: Emmy, Milt IV (Mary), Laurie O'Brien (Brian), John, Heather, Jim (Lisa), Scott, Eric (Lori), 17 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, Milt supported many causes including Jordan United Methodist Church and Syracuse University. Choose one of these or a charity close to your heart and make a contribution in his name. |
