Frankincense and Myrrh - What are they used for today?

Frankincense and myrrh have personal, religious and medicinal uses. Their oils, or resins, are extracted from small trees or shrubs that are native to northeast Africa and the adjacent areas of the Arabian Peninsula and grow in shallow, rocky soil.
Frankincense may alleviate some chronic diseases, including rheumatoid arthritis, asthma and cancer, and may promote blood circulation.
Myrrh is believed to help alleviate pain from inflammation, menstrual disorders, and gastric ulcers, and may aid in dispersing blood stagnation.
Historically, Frankincense, which was often burned, symbolized prayer rising to the heavens like smoke, while myrrh, which was often used for burials, symbolized death.
In a time before daily bathing, people would use the sweet smoke from the resins to make themselves smell better. |

What is the Star of Bethlehem? Is it real?
These questions can be answered biblically, historically and astrologically.
Christians see the star as a miraculous sign of the birth of Christ. Some theologians claimed that the star fulfilled a prophecy, known as the Star Prophecy.
Astronomers have made attempts to link the star to unusual astronomical events, such as a conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn or whether it could have been a comet, a meteorite, or even a supernova.
Historians can now use software to create a computer model of the universe and produce a sky map to see the positions of the stars just as they were over Jerusalem 2000 years ago.
But what happens if we combine current historical knowledge, astronomical fact and an open mind? Judge for yourself...
