Oregon's Forest Products Industry |
Oregon has been the nation's leader in lumber production for much of the past century and the timber industry has contributed to the economic growth of the state for most of the past 150 years. Oregon is also the source of many innovations found in today's wood industry.
Oregon has strict forest practices laws that are not found in many states and most countries around the world. This can be a competitive disadvantage since it generally comes at a higher cost. However, having a "green and clean" reputation could help future wood product marketing endeavors. And, it's possible you could see "Brand Oregon" labels on our state's wood products someday!
You can learn more about this topic on the Oregon Wood Innovation website. |

Quick & Easy Energy Saving Tips |
Just a few reminders:
1. Unplug appliances when not is use. Plug home electronics, such as TVs, DVD players and computers into power strips and turn off the power strips when the equipment is not in use. 2. Improve the efficiency of your home's heating and cooling systems by cleaning or replacing furnace filters and scheduling routine system maintenance.
3. Switch to energy-saving compact fluorescent light bulbs. For light closest to an incandescent bulb, choose CFLs marked "warm white." 4. Cover drafty windows with a heavy duty, clear plastic sheet on the inside of window frames during winter months.
5. Set your thermostat as low as comfortable - 68°F or below in the winter and lower when you are away or sleeping.
