The MGRA collects points from each of their sanctioned shows
throughout the summer. Points are collected based on a horse/rider
combination. When membership fees are
paid, competitors identify their horses as NAERIC registered. The MGRA Points Secretary tracks all points
earned by NAERIC horses in order to identify the Hi-Point NAERIC horse in each
age division. In order to achieve a
Hi-Point Award, horses must be able to perform consistently (over 20 shows per
summer) across four events: Western
Pleasure, Reining, Barrel Racing and Pole Bending. Only
riders competing with NAERIC registered horses are eligible for the trophy buckle
awards.
About
the Manitoba Gymkhana Rodeo Association (MGRA)
The MGRA is an established grassroots horse association that
has been functioning for more than 45 years.
Established in 1961, a group of people dedicated to improving the
standards of Western horsemanship held a meeting to form an association with
the main objectives being to publish a standard set of rules and to set up a
point system whereby championships could be aarded at the close of each
summer. The association was formed and
is known as the Manibot Gymkhana Rodeo Association. This association is operated and conducted as
a non-profit association.
