The 5th Annual Keystone Colt Sale was held on Saturday, September 20, 2008, at the Crawford County Fairgrounds in Meadville, Pennsylvania.

This year's sale prices continued to testify to the quality and presentation of the foals, which were very well received by buyers and sold steadily.  The top ten colts averaged $2,785.00 - a 25% increase from 2007.

The top seller at $6,000.00 was Silver Hills Vince 08, a registered Percheron colt sired by Pennwoods King's Commander  out of the home-bred mare Silver Hills Vanessa, was consigned by Silver Oak Percherons, Spud and Darcy Strain, of Boissevain, Manitoba, and purchased by Chad Cole and Stan Lindsay Jr., both of Centre Hall, Pennsylvania. 

The 2nd Annual Keystone Draft Horse Futurity featured 19 two-year-olds returning from the 2006 Keystone Sale that competed for the total prize money of $15,000.00 paid out to the top ten placings.  
 
The winner, Lone Oak 06 Tina, a Percheron filly bred by Jim and Darlene Lane, Lone Oak Percherons, Birtle, Manitoba, collected a check in the amount of $5,000.00.  The Futurity runner-up, Silver Hills King Vanessa, also a Percheron filly and full sister to the Sale topping colt, collected $2,400.00 for the Coles, and was bred by Spud and Darcy Strain, Silver Oak Percherons, Boissevain, Manitoba.

  • Sale Weanlings Compete in $5,200.00 Futurity!  
The 2nd Annual CanAm Sport Horse Classic Showcase Sale and Futurity took place at the Kentucky Horse Park, Lexington, Kentucky, on October 19 - 21, 2008, in conjunction with the Hagyard Midsouth Eventing & Team Challenge CCI*.   The three day event consists of a CanAm Sport Horse Showcase, Sale and Futurity, and featured sixteen weanlings presented by participating breeders.

The CanAm Sport Horse Sale's high selling weanling at $2,800.00 was Go Figure, a ½ Hanoverian, ¼ Thoroughbred, ¼  Percheron dark brown filly sold by Ravine Ranch Sport Horses of Lenore, Manitoba, and bought by Joan O'Conner, of Northbrook, Illinois. Go Figure is registered with the Canadian Sport Horse Association (CSHA) and was sired by Gringo, a registered Hanoverian stallion, and is out of Q Tip, a CHSA registered, Thoroughbred/Percheron-cross mare.
 
As an added incentive, weanlings purchased at Saturday's sale were invited back to compete in the $5,200.00 CanAm Classic Futurity on Sunday.  The winner was Go Buster Go, purchased in the auction by Sunshine Oaks Sport Horses, Dr. Jim and Tamera Powers of Madison, Alabama and exhibited by Steve Dryden of Early Dawn Sport Horses.  For the win, Dr. and Mrs. Powers received $1,000.00 and a trophy cooler.  Go Buster Go was sired by Najib, a registered PHR Thoroughbred stallion, and is out of a Percheron-cross mare.
