Greetings!

Last week I focused on the need to create the level of relationship with employees required for success.   Many of the comments that I received from employees reflected little optimism in their manager's ability to do this.

Reflecting on that, I realized that I jumped over a very critical first step!  Before two people can be in healthy relationship with each other, there must first be "respect".   Without this, all relationship building efforts risk being viewed as insincere, artificial or even contrived.

So let's move back a step and look at...

                 How to build employee respect?
60 Seconds to Your Success!
10 Keys to Building Employee Respect!

Having employees fully engaged in a time of high stress and low moral requires good, healthy relationships.  The prerequisite for good, healthy relationships is "respect".  And respect begins with "trust".

The following four elements must be present for trust to develop:

1) Be Reliable - do what you say you will do
2) Be Real - say what you mean, mean what you say
3) Be Open - encourage others to disagree with you
4) Be Accepting - respect and value others.  You will never get what you are not willing to give.

Plus the ways to avoid the six most common behaviors that cause employees to not respect their managers:

5) Be Decisive - DO NOT waffle, over-talk or over-analyze
6) Be Transparent - keep them informed
7) Be Empowering - DO NOT Micro-manage
8) Prioritize - everything is not really that important
9) Fight for Them - get them what they deserve & need
10) Model a "balanced Life" and enjoying your work

These are your 10 keys.  The truth is that all of us lose sight of all of these to some degree from time to time and some struggle more than others.  At the heart of all of these is to remember "it is not about you - as it never is".  Remain very conscious of the effect your behavior has on the trust, respect and your resulting relationships with others.

Forward this e-Zine to every manager that you know!
Collectively we all need to get better at giving and gaining respect as it is key to both societal and organizational success.  For while "respect for people" is claimed by many, to really live it requires constant conscious effort!

And our world needs it more now than ever!

Next Steps:
Complete your self-assessment in these key 10 behaviors.
Which do you need to give more attention to?
Create your plan to do so.

 Your Corporate Success Members:

How well do you self-manage these 10 behaviors?
How will you use your PowerPack
to help you do even better? .

Wishing you your best life and biggest impact!

Sincerely,
Ann
