So let's start with her. Kathy is a petite beautiful woman who works tirelessly for her very successful business of 20 years and the charity dearest to her big heart (Lake County Haven, Empowering Women homeless shelter for women and children). She has also been running a development and networking group for professional women for well over a decade, now in both the northern and western suburbs, holds an annual free boot camp to help college grads enter the job market successfully and absolutely lights up every room she enters.
Then there is Kally who is presently in India for three weeks rolling out a girls self-esteem program she created for teens and young ladies living in the orphanages of that country. Another, Nicki, is in the throes of restructuring her business so that she can give even more to and in addition to her Rotary President position serving those in need both near and near-to-her-heart in Zambia.
And what about Judy, a senior executive at a Fortune 100 company, who just completed her year long battle with breast cancer with nary a complaint or missing a work beat. She counts as her celebration her 38.3 mile Avon Two-Day Walk in which she was one of the very top fund raisers. Joyce, one of the most successful realtors, in the REMAX Platinum Club and Hall of Fame. She has had a professional coach for longer than I even knew they existed. She is THE role model for customer care, and has built an extremely successful referral-only business by doing it all directly from the heart!
Another is Dr. Sandy who turned her multi-year cancer battle after being misdiagnosed and her television notoriety into "A Silver Lining Foundation". Through ASFL, she has raised more that two million dollars and served more than 450,000 people in five years ensuring that lack of economic means does not prevent access to information or timely cancer screening and diagnosis.
Add to all of this the amazing children, nieces and nephews that these women have and are raising and supporting and the close relationships they fully enjoy with them all. If I were to begin to tell you about their spousal relationships, soul mates all, you would begin to think that I must be making all of this up! Especially in this age when there is so much press claiming that we cannot "have it all".
But the truth is that these people and what they have created in their lives is not fictional. They are very real indeed! And I am blessed to count each of them plus my husband (my soul mate) and my most insightful mirror (our son) as my PowerPack.
