Greetings!

This week's success topic is "Brand".  Enjoy!
"Pardon me, is my Brand showing?"

I do not like "elevator speeches".  They feel canned and practiced versus authentic and real.  And, they make me feel like I am being "sold" - not "enrolled".  And I am not unique in this!  Many of us have resistance to being sold.  Recruiters and hiring managers talk often about being turned off by "selly" job candidates as well.  So how else do your get your Brand across?  "Enrolling" is the key.

How do you want people to describe you?  What adjectives would you like them to use?  That is your brand.  You are authentic when your Brand is consistent with your stance.  Your stance is solid when based in honoring that which is most important to you.   Your brand is the world's feedback about how you are being received and perceived.

We "enroll" others by fully showing up in our stance.  We enable them to experience who we are.  How they describe the experience of us, is our brand.  "Enrolling" is giving people the opportunity to decide that they want what we have to give.  "Selling" is trying to convince them to want it!  Which one works better for you?

Take this test.  Ask at least five people around you to give you 4 -5 adjectives that describe your brand.  Ask them to totally nail it and explain that not all of the words need to be positive.  Are the results consistent with your stance? If not, what's missing.  Are the results consistent across the five people?  If not, are you being inconsistent or are you letting your brand be interpreted inconsistently?

Rather than put your energy into an "elevator speech" or words, consistently "be" who you want your brand to be.  Actions speak so much louder, and more convincingly, than words!
