Greetings!

Recently a student allowed me to sample a pair of headphones that, when covering my ears with them, offered an "acoustical cloak" - total silence. I felt as if I had fallen into a new dimension! We live in a world where silence does not happen; where the world does not stop moving or changing. Yet, Christians are not intended to be secluded or hidden in silence. We are called to impact this world for Christ Jesus. When we remain close to God, He will offer us true peace.

Philippians 4: 5-7 - Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Interim Superintendent

DetroitSERVATHON

DetroitSERVATHONDetroitSERVATHON
There is never a day that passes by, that the students of Oakland Christian cease to amaze me. Detroit Servathon week 2011 was incredible. Through the rain, long drives, hard labor, singing songs or serving lunch; our students were living examples of Jesus Christ in every inch of our communities. I was able to witness our students, serving, not because they were made or told to do, but because they took great pleasure in it. The impact of their service extends farther than many of us will ever know and we are grateful for the opportunity. We also began to forge great relationships with several area ministries. So keep your eye out for OCS students in the community in the weeks and months to come. Thank you to all who participated and helped to come along side as one community serving our King

Shop with SCRIP and Save
OCS Families are saving hundreds of dollars on their OCS tuition with Scrip!

What is Scrip?
Scrip is a term that means
"substitute money". When you purchase a scrip, you're purchasing negotiable gift certificates and prepaid cards that are used just like cash. You can use scrip to pay for everyday expenses like food, clothing, gasoline, and other essentials, and with every purchase, you earn a rebate towards a reduction in tuition.  Your family earns 75% of the rebate from each order towards your tuition (25% goes toward administrative costs).

Prayer Corner

Please join us in prayer for Oakland Christian!

The Thursday prayer group will begin meeting on Thursdays from 2:00 - 3:00 p.m. in the High School Conference room starting September 29th.  If you are interested in participating, please contact Karla Everett keverett@oaklandchristian.com.

Additionally, please pray for the following:

  • Leadership - Pray for godly discernment and wisdom as a committee searches for a new Superintendent.
  • Athletics - Pray for another successful year in the athletic department for OCS. Our concern is for more than wins and losses. We are praying that we will first of all have spiritual success this athletic year.
  • Spiritual Life- Pray that the times in chapel, prayer, in bible study, in outreach and even in the everyday work of life, that the OCS family would continue to draw closer to Christ and to do everything for His glory!
  • DetroitSERVATHON -  Praise God that the students, parents, faculty and staff had an incredible time serving and giving of their time and talents. God was glorified! Pray that this is not just a one week event, but rather, OCS would continue to give to the community.
  • Homecoming Pray that the sports events would be glorifying to God and athletes would be safe and have Christ-like sportsmanship. That the dance would be fun and filled with fellowship and pleasing to God!
  • Auburn Hills -  Please pray that the plans for abortion clinic Planned Parenthood (the largest abortion provider in the U.S.) would not be able to open a facility 2.3 miles from OCS.

As always, pray that Jesus Christ would be the center of all we do!
