| Greetings! | |

Next Thursday (September 15), OCS will host its annual Association meeting. We are more than excited about the beginning of our school year and we look forward to sharing our vision, to the electing of school officers and to offering service opportunities to our OCS families. God has been so good to us in the start of the school year. Parents continue to support our teachers and staff with their prayers and encouragement. Plan to attend the Association meeting where we will conduct school business and share OCS friendships.
When we get together, I want to encourage you in your faith, but I also want to be encouraged by yours. Romans 1:12
Roger VanDorp
Interim Superintendent

What is Scrip? Scrip is a term that means "substitute money". When you purchase a scrip, you're purchasing negotiable gift certificates and prepaid cards that are used just like cash. You can use scrip to pay for everyday expenses like food, clothing, gasoline, and other essentials, and with every purchase, you earn a rebate towards a reduction in tuition. It is such an easy way to earn money for the school. There are schools in this area that earned over $5,000 last year through Box Tops, then there are schools across the United States that have earned over $40,000 in a year! OCS can do it too! Clipped Box Tops can be turned in to your child's teacher.

Prayer Corner
| |
Please join us in prayer for Oakland Christian!
Parents are welcome to pray together next Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. in Mrs. Prantera's office (near the back of the Little Lancers University). The prayer group is considering changing date and time. If you are interested in participating, please contact Karla Everett keverett@oaklandchristian.com.
Additionally, please pray for the following:
- Leadership - Pray for Godly discernment and wisdom as the association selects new school board members and positions and the Parent Teacher Fellowship (PTF) selects a new president and board members. Pray the same for the committee searching for a new Superintendant.
- Faculty and Staff: Pray for the faculty and staff as they settle into the routine of school life. Pray that they would remain energized and filled with joy. Pray for the high school teachers to continue their spiritual connection with students from last weeks SpringHill.
- Students: As school moves full force ahead, as homework piles on, as lack of sleep is building up, that the Lord gives generously His wisdom and peace that surpasses understanding!
- International Students - Pray for International students as the newness has worn off and they may be hitting cultural or language barriers at school and at host homes. Pray that our two Chinese students find a host home. Pray that OCS would continue to grow its International student program. Praise for the International students testimonies at SpringHill.
- SpringHill - Praise God for all He did in the hearts and minds of students last week. Praise God for the teachers, students and friends that connected on a more intimate, deeper level. Pray for a hedge of protection, that the evil one would not try to steal away all that was accomplished last week and for those coming off a "spiritual high".
- DetroitSERVATHON: Pray that the Lord would guide the steps of Steve Kozak and those that are planning this incredible event that reaches out in love and deed to our local and global communities not just one week, but throughout the year.
As always, pray that Jesus Christ would be the center of all we do! |
