Thank you for reading our newsletter and for being a faithful Dick Scott customer.  Many of you have written and asked what happened to August's Newletter.  A couple of us actually took some vacation time which means the work piled up.  Since we were quite busy with other things that needed our attention, sadly, the newsletter was not sent.  In this issue we have included both this month's and last month's Employee Spotlight.  Enjoy!
Employee Spotlight
 
Bill Neu, Service Technician at Dick Scott Kia
Bill Neu has been in the automotive industry for over 30 years and we have been fortunate to have him working in the Dick Scott Automotive Group Family since1993. For the last 8 years, Bill has worked at our Dick Scott Kia location; he is Kia ASE Certified and a Master Certified Technician through the State of Michigan. Bill attended Schoolcraft College and MOTECH. He lives in Plymouth with his wife Patty and their two cats, Freckles and Merlin.
 
In his free time, Bill enjoys reading books by Clive Cussler and W.E.B. Griffin, and spending time with his two "fantastic" grandchildren, Michael and Natalie. He loves Pizza and one of his favorite movies is The Goonies. Bill also loves to hunt, fish, hike and spend time on his computer. Currently, Bill drives a 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee but he would love to own the original HumVee one day.

Bill is our Spotlight Employee for September because of all the hard work and dedication he has shown. He has been a great asset to the Service Department at Dick Scott Kia and to our Dick Scott Automotive Group Family! If you ever have a question about your vehicle's maintenance, he is the one to ask. Thanks Bill for all that you do; you are an important member of the Dick Scott "Best Shot" Team!

Judy Butler, Office Manager at Dick Scott Motormall
Judy Butler has been in the automotive industry for 20 years, and has been with Dick Scott for 10 of those years.  She is currently the Office Manager at Dick Scott Motormall, in Fowlerville. She attended Cleary College, for Business Management and Accounting, and lives in Pinckney on Rush Lake, with her two Shih Tzu dogs, Smokey and Bandit. She bought them from a customer at Dick Scott Motormall, whose truck broke down on the way to sell them to a pet store.
 
In her free time she enjoys cooking, and even owned her own restaurant in Hartland. Her favorite foods are Pasta, bread and Chocolate. She loves the water and likes to be the first one on the lake when the ice melts and the last one off before the freeze. She has done missionary dentistry in Guatemala and Honduras and has a motorcycle license; she is still waiting for her Harley.
 
Judy currently drives a Dodge Caliber but hopes to someday own a Chrysler Crossfire.
Judy is our Spotlight Employee for August because of all the hard work and dedication she has shown for the past 10 years at Dick Scott. Judy does an excellent job managing the office for Dick Scott Motormall. Thanks Judy for all that you do; you are an important member of the Dick Scott "Best Shot" Team

Fuel Saving Tips
Everyone in America is feeling the pinch at the gas pump.  With gas near $4 per gallon we are all looking for ways to save money and make our fuel budget stretch.  Dick Scott has you covered.  Try these fuel saving tips:
 
Observe The Speed Limit - Each 5mph you drive over 60 costs you $0.20 per gallon for gas.
Remove Excess Weight - This affects smaller vehicles more than large vehicles but the general rule of thumb is every extra 100 pounds in your vehicle will cost you 2%. At $4/gallon it costs you $0.08 per gallon.
Avoid Excessive Idling - You get 0 mpg when you idle.
Use Cruise Control - It helps you maintain a constant speed and will save you gas.
Use Overdrive Gears - If you have an automatic transmission, make sure you use the over drive gear.
Keep your Engine Tuned - Engines that are out of tune cost you 4% at the pump
Check and Replace Air Filters - Replacing a clogged air filter can improve your gas mileage by 10%.
Keep Tires Properly Inflated - 1 psi drop costs you 0.4% and it can add up quickly.
Keep Your Oil Changed - Not only will it make you engine run longer but it'll save you at the pump.

Dick Scott Rewards Cards
Have you checked your Dick Scott Rewards Card Points lately? Checking your points is as easy as going to our website, navigate to the "Rewards" menu and clicking on "Check Your Points." We'll need your email address to sign in so if you haven't given us that information yet please email us at Rewards@DickScott.com with your email address and Rewards Card number. Once you're in you can check your points. Points can be redeemed for anything from a car wash or oil change to a discount on your next new or pre-owned vehicle purchase/lease. This is just another part of the "Dick Scott Difference".

Each month we will be asking a different Trivia question.  Email us back with an answer.  Everyone who gets the answer correct will be entered into our drawing.  This month's prize is a free oil change.

Recipe Of The Month
Amazing Baked Beans
 
1 large onion, chopped
5 strips bacon
1 can Kidney beans, drained
1 can butter beans, drained
1 can pork-n-beans
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup ketchup
1 tsp Worstershire Sauce
4 oz cheddar cheese, shredded

Cook bacon until done, remove from pan, blot off excess grease and break into small pieces. Brown onions in bacon grease. Once the onions are browned, mix them and all the other ingredients. Put them into a baking dish and bake at 350 degrees for 1 to 1 ½ hours.
