Last week, The Scarborough Hospital published an edition of @Issue, a newsletter about how we are meeting today's healthcare challenges. The new edition focuses on health system transformation, funding reform and our efforts to refresh our Strategic Plan-a consultative process we hope will strengthen our organization as part of an integrated health delivery model.
@issue is available on our website, and was published as a special section in The Scarborough Mirror on September 27.
We believe our community stakeholders need to understand the changes that are coming to healthcare in Ontario, and we are seeking your ideas and opinions as we develop options for our future. Until October 4, you may comment on our draft decision-making criteria on our Engaging at TSH blog.

The care and compassion of her doctor and nurses made a procedure LisaMarie Nicholson was dreading a lot less scary.

When first-time parents Valerie and Kosta Makropoulos learned they were expecting, they didn't give much thought to the childbirth process or just how many people could potentially be involved in the delivery.
The Scarborough Hospital's Maternal Newborn and Childcare Program hosts Specialists' Nights to provide expectant parents with a complete picture of childbirth, from labour to delivery, and the options available.
"We're so glad we attended the Specialists' Night," said Valerie. "We had no idea there was so much to know and it was great to get information directly from the experts. The session should be mandatory."
