TSH is My Scarborough Hospital

Greetings!

This month's It's Time to Talk speakers' series -- "Breaking Barriers: Stigma, Families and Mental Health" -- is now full. We will be calling or emailing everyone who reserved a spot this week. If you did RSVP and have any questions, please contact Elaine at 416.431.8200 ext. 6661. Stay tuned for future topics!
Supporting our Wound Care Centre

The Scarborough Hospital is widely regarded as a leader in wound treatment, which is a vital part of our surgical, oncology, dialysis and nephrology programs. The 3rd Annual Scarborough World Cup of Golf, held at the Angus Glen Golf Club on August 9, raised over $100,000, the proceeds of which will go toward redeveloping the Wound Care Centre at the hospital. A special thank you to the sponsors, golfers and silent auction donors for demonstrating leadership in supporting excellent healthcare at The Scarborough Hospital.

70% cite communitcation issues

You may recognize this famous line from the movie Cool Hand Luke. Apt, as at TSH over 70% of the complaints we receive from patients and family members identify communication as an issue. When Patient Relations bring these concerns to the attention of the staff or physicians they are usually quite perplexed at how they are being perceived by patients and families. So what can TSH do to be better communicators? Pam offers some simple strategies to make our healthcare teams better communicators.

TSH Archives Group needs your help!
We're seeking long-time employees (current and retired) who are interested in volunteering for our Archives Group. There are hundreds of old photos, newspaper clippings and artifacts that need sorting and identifying. If you've got a long memory and are willing to share it, we need your help. Please contact Phoebe Tian if you're interested.
Separating food fact from fiction

"We're constantly bombarded with food and nutrition advice from friends, family, the media and the Internet, so it's no surprise that certain misconceptions continue to thrive," said Belinda Lo, a Dietitian at The Scarborough Hospital.
