Consensus Summit tickets available

CAP logo The hospital is in the midst of a planning process known as the Clinical Action Plan.  The objective of this process is to craft a plan for clinical services at The Scarborough Hospital for the next five years and beyond.

The hospital has now reached a critical milestone in this process.  For several months, small planning groups known as communities of practice have been meeting and drafting plans to better meet the needs of our patients.  These draft plans are now at the stage where feedback from the broader community is required.  That feedback will be used to help evaluate these plans before it is determined which will be turned into action items.

Many members of our community have been involved up to this point, including our volunteers, members of the community advisory committee, patients, and representatives from key stakeholder organizations.  They have all been invited to attend a Consensus Summit on October 26 from 5 - 9 p.m.  The purpose of this summit is to present the draft plans and gather feedback from attendees.

A limited number of tickets to the Summit have also been reserved for members of the community who have not been involved up until now.  If you are interested in attending, please e-mail cap@tsh.to.  The Summit will be held at the Grand Baccus, 2155 McNicholl Avenue, on October 26th from 5 - 9 p.m.  (Dinner will be provided.)  To learn more about the Clinical Action Planning Process click here.
Chinese Outreach Committee celebrates 15th successful Mid-Autumn Ball

On September 25, The Scarborough Chinese Outreach Committee (COC) held its 15th annual Mid-Autumn Ball. This year's event was attended by over 700 people, all there to support The Scarborough Hospital and other local charitable endeavours including the COC's highly successful annual health fair.

The Scarborough Hospital would like to thank May Ye Lee and the entire COC committee for their on-going support, including Mid-Autumn Ball Honorary Chair John Betts, President of McDonald's Canada, and event Co-Chairs Dr. Paul Tam of The Scarborough Hospital and Henry Chow of Rogers Communications Inc.  We would also like to thank everyone who volunteered at the event, or who purchased tickets and silent auction items to help raise funds.

Healthcare is a partnership and, to be successful, we absolutely need the backing of our community.  It is only through the support of generous donors that we're able to purchase much-needed equipment to enable us to offer the outstanding care experience to which we are committed.

On Saturday, Oct. 2, The Scarborough Hospital Foundation hosted a garden party at the beautiful estate of the Punjani family on The Bridle Path. Offering a world of wonder, the Scarborough Garden Party celebrated and embraced the richly diverse Scarborough community, and supported Orthopaedics and Paediatrics at The Scarborough Hospital. Guests were received under a heated tent, with exotic food and entertainment from the surrounding South Asian, Greek and Chinese communities.

"My wife recently had surgery at The Scarborough Hospital, and the entire family was very concerned for her," said Mohamed Punjani. "But we were all so happy with the great care she received, and so thankful for her speedy recovery, that we wanted to show our appreciation. We hosted this garden party to give back to the hospital and to celebrate the remarkable community we live in."

A very special thank you to the generous sponsors and guests who made donations towards purchasing the pieces of equipment on display at the event, including a Jackson Spinal Table, a Laparoscopy Tower, an Operating Room Table and a Defibrillator.
