Special Prayer Service Tonight at 6:15 pm

Dear Friends,

We received a special request from the Apostleship of the Sea in which we would like to invite you to participate.

Fr Bruno Ciceri from the Pontifical Council which oversees AOS, has passed on a request from AOS Italy. (Read the full article below).

Today marks the 1 month anniversary of the sinking of the Costa Concordia. They ask that the entire AOS Family finds ways to be in Communion with the people who are gathering for a special service on the Island of Giglio today.

As such, Fr Sinclair will lead a brief ecumenical prayer service at the Seafarers' Center tonight at 6:15 pm. He would like to invite all of the maritime community at the Seafarers' Center supporters to join us in prayer.

We hope to see you there. If you cannot make it, please say a brief prayer for those who lost their lives, their families, and the passengers and crew members still struggling with the after effects of that horrible day.

Doreen

The 13th of February it will be exactly one month from the tragedy of the Costa Concordia.

That day at ISOLA DEL GIGLIO (the island where the ship sank) there will be a mass celebrated by the local bishop at 6 pm GMT +1.

AOS Italy is suggesting that chaplains and seafarers centers around the world will "join in spirit" to pray for the eternal rest of the deceased, to support the relatives of the missing ones, to comfort the wounded and give thanks to the Lord for the crew and passengers who survived and the generosity of the people who provide immediate assistance.

It will be a wonderful spiritual celebration, if any of you on board of a vessel, in the seafarer center or in a church could organize a mass, a moment of prayer or a ecumenical service to be IN COMMUNION with the people praying at the Isola del Giglio.

I would like to invite you also to communicate directly to Don Giacomo Martino (AOS National Director) at italy@stellamaris.tv the place, the time and the date when you are having the prayerful celebration.

I know that the time is limited but this is the moment where we can show that the Apostleship of the Sea is one big family united in prayer, really concerned for seafarers and their family.

I will be grateful if you will circulate this e-mail, post it in your Facebook and share with your friends.

Thanks,
Fr. Bruno Ciceri
