You know a parents suffering when a child is lost, or has died.
Intercede, we pray, for your people of the sea.
Pray for the passengers and crew members of the M/V Costa Concordia.

Prayer request upon the 1 Month Anniversary of the sinking of the Costa Concordia

Dear Friends,

We received a special request which we ask all of our members, and readers to respond to. We regret not being able to send this out on sooner. I attended the Social Ministry Gathering in DC and simply did not have ample e-mail access.

Fr Bruno Ciceri from the Pontifical Council which oversees AOS, has passed on a request from AOS Italy. (Read the full article below).

Tomorrow, Feb. 13th marks the 1 month anniversary of the sinking of the Costa Concordia. They ask that the entire AOS Family finds ways to be IN COMMUNION with the people who are gathering for a special service tomorrow.

Fr. Sinclair has prepared a special prayer service for the Concordia, which can be found at this link:

Prayer Service for Costa Concordia

AOS-USA would like to ask you to unite in prayers with AOS Italy and the AOS Family around the world.  We ask our Priests members to say a Mass for the Concordia victims and crew (Prayers and intercessions from the prayer service above can be utilized with this Mass). We ask our Deacons and Lay Ecclessial Ministers to lead a prayer service at your local seafarers' center, and Mariners and all other lay Catholics are asked to attend Mass for their intentions.  Mariners at sea and those unable to attend Mass are asked to pray a rosary or other prayers for these intentions.

Please report back as requested by Fr Bruno, so that we can show the strength of our unity as an AOS Family.

May Our Lady Star of the Sea bring comfort and solace to her suffering children,

Doreen M. Badeaux

Secretary General

Important Request from Fr. Bruno Ciceri & AOS Italy

Dear friends,

The 13th of February it will be exactly one month from the tragedy of the Costa Concordia.

That day at ISOLA DEL GIGLIO (the island where the ship sank) there will be a mass celebrated by the local bishop at 6 pm GMT +1.

AOS Italy is suggesting that chaplains and seafarers centers around the world will "join in spirit" to pray for the eternal rest of the deceased, to support the relatives of the missing ones, to comfort the wounded and give thanks to the Lord for the crew and passengers who survived and the generosity of the people who provide immediate assistance.

It will be a wonderful spiritual celebration, if any of you on board of a vessel, in the seafarer center or in a church could organize a mass, a moment of prayer or a ecumenical service to be IN COMMUNION with the people praying at the Isola del Giglio.

I would like to invite you also to communicate directly to Don Giacomo Martino (AOS National Director) at italy@stellamaris.tv the place, the time and the date when you are having the prayerful celebration.

I know that the time is limited but this is the moment where we can show that the Apostleship of the Sea is one big family united in prayer, really concerned for seafarers and their family.

I will be grateful if you will circulate this e-mail, post it in your Facebook and share with your friends.

Thanks,
Fr. Bruno Ciceri
